January was an exciting month filled with meaningful engagements and leadership development for Cowan Consulting! ?? We started the year in Jackson, MS, facilitating a half-day CliftonStrengths orientation for student leaders across the state at the annual UPLIFT Leaders Retreat. It was inspiring to see these emerging leaders gain deeper self-awareness and build a strengths-based foundation for their journey ahead. ?? Next, we partnered with the Juvenile Court of Memphis & Shelby County's Senior Leadership Team during their annual retreat. Our session focused on the four needs of followers—trust, hope, compassion, and stability—along with strategies for navigating crucial conversations and insights from the latest engagement data. We explored common blind spots that managers and leaders often face, providing a fresh perspective on how to foster a more engaged and effective workplace. ?? To close out the month, we had the privilege of working with Sylvamo’s Senior Leadership Team in a training on communication styles within the four CliftonStrengths domains: Executing, Influencing, Strategic Thinking, and Relationship Building. Leaders walked away with a deeper understanding of how their strengths shape their communication, as well as the value and needs of other communication styles—an essential skill for those responsible for casting a vision and leading their teams to success. A common theme throughout all these #LeadershipSessions was the power of self-awareness—helping leaders recognize their strengths, talents, and how they show up to others. When leaders understand themselves better, they lead with greater clarity, confidence, and impact. ?? Lastly, we were thrilled to learn that our proposal, "Culture Building Playbook: Empowering Teams through Transitions with Strategic Tools," was accepted for the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Conference! We’ll be presenting alongside a team from NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development, sharing how we strategically collaborated to lay a strong foundation for growth and success across their entire team. We’re excited to showcase our insights and best practices on building a thriving workplace culture through times of transition! A strong start to the year, and we’re looking forward to continuing this work! ?? #LeadershipDevelopment #CliftonStrengths #StrengthsBasedLeadership #Communication #Engagement #ProfessionalGrowth
