February is Black History Month, and Covey would like to honor Black leaders who have made significant contributions to disability rights. Meet Lois Curtis – A Black woman with I/DD whose legal case (Olmstead v. L.C.) resulted in a Supreme Court ruling affirming the right of people with disabilities to live in the community rather than institutions. This woman's determination has truly changed the world. Like Covey, she created opportunity for personal growth for a whole population of individuals. What have you done recently to help those around you grow and live their best lives?

??♂? Volunteer for iCan Bike! ??♀? Join us at Covey's iCan Bike event and help individuals with disabilities learn to ride a bike. We’re looking for dedicated volunteers to serve as spotters. Here’s what you can expect: ?? Hold the training handle while your rider gets on and off the bike. ?? Guide the rider by giving simple instructions like “Feet on the pedals. Eyes forward. Here we go.” ?? Ensure the bike is straight before pushing off, keeping the rider upright and safe. ?? Push the bike to give the rider momentum and balance. ?? Let go of the handle to allow the rider to self-correct and learn. ?? Jog alongside the rider, staying within arm’s reach to prevent falls. ?? Encourage and support the rider positively, especially after a fall. Your support will make a huge difference in the lives of the participants. This event, running from April 15th to 26th, not only provides a convenient way to dispose of your documents at 2391 Enterprise Dr, Oshkosh, WI 54904, but also supports Covey's Woodhaven AFH. As Provident Financial's Focus Charity, Covey will benefit from the items collected during the event, which will help furnish the Woodhaven AFH. Join us in making this event a success!
