We have seen an alarming rise in crisis calls in the last year.?We typically handle around 30 to 40 crisis cases each year. However, in the last year,?we have received 224 crisis calls. In 2024, we have already exceeded our usual workload, with a growth rate of over 540%. We have heard similar stories from our local partners in law enforcement and other agencies in the state, crisis cases are going up. Covered is opening a brand-new crisis house for survivors of sex trafficking coming in March 2025! ? By opening a new?crisis?house?in March, our agency will be better equipped to serve survivors immediately after they leave their traffickers?to help their basic needs, such as food, clothing and shelter.?Our?crisis?house?will be a short-term residential program that will offer these survivors the chance to pause, take a deep breath, and make a plan. The?crisis?house?will be a safe place where those who have faced unimaginable challenges can find healing and support from our dedicated team.?Healing starts here. ? From our?crisis?house, if it is a safe option, survivors may decide to go back?home?to heal with the support of their family or they may need or choose to go to a residential program out of state.?Survivors may also choose to join our residential stabilization program at Covered?House?where they can start the hard work of processing their trauma with our clinical staff. We could not do this good work without you! We need your continued support to make this happen. Covered Colorado is hosting free interactive experiences in our Care and Education Center! This experience is a unique way to learn more about what we are doing for survivors in our community and to understand trafficking through the eyes of a survivor. The experience is great for groups if you have co-workers, friends and/or family who are also interested in visiting. We are starting to schedule our interactive experiences for the week of November 18th. Interactive experiences can be scheduled during the early morning (8-10:30 AM) or late afternoon (3-5 PM) hours. Healing begins with a good night’s sleep. For survivors of sex trafficking, something as simple as a peaceful night’s rest is something they may not have experienced in a long time. At our safe house, survivors often tell us that this is their first night that they have been able to sleep through the night—a moment of true refuge and relief after leaving their traffickers. This sleep isn’t just rest; it’s the beginning of the healing process. In a safe, supportive environment, survivors can finally begin to rebuild their lives with hope and dignity. It’s in these quiet moments of peace that they can start to heal from trauma and take the next steps toward their futures.
