🌟Employee Spotlight🌟 Meet our Director of Finance, Jessica! Q: Name a role model who has inspired you in your career. Jessica: "John Femrite. I worked for John when I was 24 years old until I was 33, and when he spoke, I listened. As I get older, I value what he taught me even more. He proved to me that all things are possible. I have also been so blessed to walk beside so many women I admire for conquering a career and still being able to balance family without missing a beat. Those women show me balance and drive. Tammi from Pinnacle Bank, Angie, our lead CPA, and several of the women at Couto Homes are included in this." Q: Are you a morning person or a night owl? Jessica: "Morning person. I actually get up and work an hour or so at home to get my day started. I love to have everything lined out for the day. I do love a good nap on the weekends, though!" Q: Are there any misconceptions people outside the finance department have about your role? Jessica: "That my role just crunches numbers, when in reality, it's more analyzing data, providing guidance to leadership, and thinking way beyond basic bookkeeping to help forecast the company's future. Also, that I just work for Couto Homes, when I actually work for Donny Couto's five other companies, as well." Q: What do you have playing in your office? Music? White noise? Silence? Jessica: "I listen to a million audiobooks. Some would consider it boring, but I believe to keep myself sharp in my career, I need to continue to learn, and this is an easy way to help fulfill that. I love a good, inspiring book! Q: "What's your process for turning a bad day into a good day? Jessica: "Talking with my family, a good Starbucks drink, or a good laugh." #EmployeeSpotlight #HomeBuilding #AwardWinningHomes #CompanyCulture #TexasHomeBuilder

🌟Employee Spotlight🌟 Meet our Lead Project Manager, Randy! With a number of award-winning homes built on his watch, Randy ensures every project is completed with excellence. Q: What initially drew you to your field, and how has that passion evolved over time? Randy: "I remember being on a job site every summer since I was a young kid. My father was in construction as a framing contractor. I often joke that it was like summer camp for myself, my brother and my cousin. As I grew up I was just drawn to it and never looked back." Q: What was your dream job as a child, and how does it compare to your current role? Randy: "Teacher/Coach. I always thought it would be great working with kids and passing along my knowledge to a younger generation. It is very rewarding when I get to help train a new Project Manager and watch them mature in their career." Q: What are you most passionate about outside of work? Randy: "Family. My wife and I have built an incredible life together raising 3 kids and now watching them raise our 5 grandkids." Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve ever collected? Randy: "I have a collection of Hard Rock t-shirts from all over the world. I even adopted my mother’s collection that she made into a t-shirt quilt." Q: Describe a funny or memorable moment you’ve had with a colleague. Randy: "At one of our former furnished model homes, there was a client that said they saw a small rattlesnake in the house over the weekend. So on Monday morning, another PM and I went out to the house and had to do a thorough search of the home. Picking up couch cushions, rugs and every single piece of furniture in the house. We had a few weapons of choice but still were not very comfortable with the task we inherited. Luckily, we never found the snake and assumed that he got out the way he got in." Q: What’s your go-to karaoke song? Randy: "I try not to sing Karaoke often because I do not like public speaking. If I'm on stage singing, I prefer to be in a group with a good sing-along song that the entire crowd joins in on." #EmployeeSpotlight #HomeBuilding #AwardWinningHomes #CompanyCulture #TexasHomeBuilder

🌟Employee Spotlight🌟 Meet Rob! With nearly a decade with Couto Homes, countless award-winning homes, and recognition as a finalist for the Texas Association of Builders’ On-Site Sales Person of the Year, Rob’s passion for designing dream homes shines in everything he does. Q: What drew you to the home building industry? Rob: "I was drawn to the home building industry out of necessity. I was a teacher/coach in a small town outside of Nacogdoches and we moved to Granbury for a better opportunity to coach. The job was filled at the last minute so they offered me a job as a full time substitute teacher until the next opening came available, but the pay wasn’t going to work. I later walked into the corporate office for a big production builder and told them I was ready to start work. They were confused at first but after talking to the division president they hired me on the spot. I started in warranty and then quickly became a project manager and the rest is history." Q: What is your favorite memory in your almost TEN YEARS working at Couto Homes? Rob: "There are soooo many great memories but the trip to Paris would be at the top . Donny, Alden, Jason and myself took an architectural trip as a reward for a good year. It was amazing. We had a great time and actually came up with our next goal to end the year over a couple of drinks. Btw, we did hit the new goal." Q: What do you spend your time doing outside of Couto Homes? Rob: "I’m truly blessed to have a great partner in life better known as Big Ang. We like to camp, visit our kiddos and get as much beach time in as possible. She also lets me work on my old cars in my 'spare' time." Q: Which of your professional accomplishments are you most proud of? Rob: "I’m most proud of having a small part in growing this company. As an early member of team Couto I have seen it all. I have seen this company grow and add wonderful employees while still maintaining Donny’s vision. I feel like I had a small part in that." Q: What is something about you that people would be surprised to learn? Rob: "Two things that come to mind that people might be surprised by would be that I played college baseball and I was back stage security for concerts at the old Astroworld theme park in Houston in the late 80’s." #EmployeeSpotlight #TeamSuperpowers #TeamworkMakestheDreamWork #HomeBuilder #TexasHomeBuilder
