Te Kura Kaiwhakawā | Institute of Judicial Studies has today published the Criminal Jury Trials Bench Book on Courts of New Zealand: https://lnkd.in/gtXccDjg The bench book is being made publicly available to promote transparency into, and understanding of, court processes. It is also intended that release of the bench book will benefit the legal profession and the wider public. ? The Criminal Jury Trials Bench Book provides guidance and tools for criminal trial judges. It is designed to assist them to prepare their directions and summing-up in criminal trials. The bench book is not law and is not intended to develop the law. The example directions contained in the bench book are guidelines only and need to be tailored by judges appropriately to the facts and legal issues of the particular case. #courtsofnz #judicialeducation #benchbook
