Associate Judge Paul Cogswell took the Oaths of Office as an Associate Judge of Te Kōti Matua – High Court at the Auckland High Court on Friday. The ceremony was presided over by the Chief Justice. Guests were welcomed to the Court by the Auckland High Court Waiata Rōpū, and speeches were given by Alison Todd on behalf of the Attorney-General and David Campbell on behalf?of the New Zealand Law Society Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa. ? It is also intended that release of the bench book will benefit the legal profession and the wider public. ? The Criminal Jury Trials Bench Book provides guidance and tools for criminal trial judges. It is designed to assist them to prepare their directions and summing-up in criminal trials. The bench book is not law and is not intended to develop the law.
