One of the cornerstones of our coaching approach is to pull things that “move” clients and are meaningful to them into the work. Whether it’s tattoos, fashion, or music, we love finding creative ways to add those elements into our mental skills work—from core value development to pre and post-game routines and in-game focus cues. It’s been a game changer for many of our clients and makes it more likely that they’ll stick with their mental game approach. #ownyourmentalgame #tattoos #creativity #mentalperformance #mentalskills #courtexperformance #corevalues #meaning #meaningful

At the start of their work with Courtex, many of our high-performing clients may already be utilizing mental skills and tools without realizing it. A crucial part of our job as mental performance coaches is to help those clients recognize what they’re already doing right, rather than throwing a bunch of new stuff at them right out the gates. By identifying those skills and tools and what’s working, it can empower clients to create a more intentional foundation for proactive development and level up their self-awareness. #ownyourmentalgame #mentalperformance #mentaltraining #selfawareness#courtexperformance #mentalskills #ownership #development #intentional

Aren Ulmer, MA, CMPC, MHFA discusses how intentional trust-centered relationships start with allowing people the space to express who they uniquely are and to share what they are going through at the human-level. Whether we’re working with pro athletes, coaches, or executives, creating a foundation for positive and negative experiences to be shared, reflected on, and discussed with non-judgement is at the center of our approach at Courtex. #ownyourmentalgame #trust #mentalperformance #courtexperformance #mentalgame #mentorship #leadership #coaching #relationships #strength #mindfulness #present

In our work, one of the keys to building authentic long-term relationships is leaning into our own vulnerability. We look to create coaching and mentorship relationships that help our clients own their experiences and take charge of their mental game by selectively pulling in our own personal stories of struggle and growth to help our clients feel more connected and seen. #mentorship #mentee #leadership #leader #leaderidentity #courtexperformance #connected #vulnerability #authentic #relationship #coaching #mentalgame Aren Ulmer, MA, CMPC, MHFA Samantha Surillo, MSTOD

Mental performance starts with being the leader of your own life and investing in yourself. In this clip, Angel Elderkin, former NCAA D1 women’s basketball head coach, turned Courtex Leadership & Performance coach, shares how self-care contributed to her ability to show up as a strong leader for herself and her team at App State. Consistent mental performance requires a relentless commitment to taking charge of your own controllables first in order to then be able to lead others more effectively. Coaches often believe that showing up as a leader for their team means they must sacrifice their own wellbeing for winning. The work we do with our clients often results in challenging those perspectives to help coaches take ownership of their mental game by leading their own lives in a way they’d expect their players to do on and off the court. Proactive coaches looking to take charge of their mental game can learn to challenge these types of limiting beliefs in the Courtex Coaches Mental Development group Angel will be facilitating in February. Strong teams foster cultures that are often rooted in mutual learning and growth. Mentorship is one of the many ways we encourage and challenge our clients to build mutual learning environments particularly when they’re in leadership positions. However, that starts by walking the talk with our own team culture. In this clip, Aren Ulmer, MA, CMPC, MHFA shares his experience serving as a “reverse mentor” for an internal member of the Courtex team. #ownyourculture #mentorship #mutuallearning #leadership #culture #team #development #courtexperformance #mentalgame

Step 1 for both mentorship and mental game coaching starts with building authentic rapport at the human-level. Relationships are at the core of everything we do at Courtex. That applies to our approach in both coaching our clients as well as mentoring team members internally. At Courtex, we believe in the ATM approach, where we assess, train, and mentor to help clients and team members take ownership of their mental game and discover their unique leader identity. #ownyourmentalgame #courtexperformance #leadership #mentor #mentoring #identity #mentorship #leaderidentity

Inspired by our work in the NBA and international pro basketball, at Courtex, we work with world-class as well as up and coming coaches who are looking to take their mental game and team culture to the next level. We help coaches increase self-awareness, capitalize on what makes them unique, and develop their skills, so they elevate their teams and careers. Sport coaching can be a lonely and stressful job where well-being is sacrificed for high performance. Within our coaching development group, we bring together coaches from different environments to talk about the unique challenges they face everyday and co-create strategies to own their mental game on and off the court. Our program meets individuals at the intersection of personality x purpose x performance to drive meaningful development. Reach out to learn more and join the Courtex Coaches Group to connect with others in the sport coaching community. Coaches from all sports are encouraged to express interest at https://lnkd.in/ehfBBTrx. ? #ownyourmentalgame #coaches #coacheshelpingcoaches #courtexperformance #mentalperformance #leadership #executive #sportcoaching #support #supportgroup #collaboration

Sometimes players "hide out" on the court to avoid messing up. While that fear of failure is obviously not what we want, the athlete's acting ability required to hide out skillfully (so no one will notice that they are) is something worth highlighting. It allows us to then get the player to think about how they can use this skill to ACT confidently even when they're not FEELING confident. Ultimately, this helps regain a sense of control and drives the individual to shift into action mode to take charge of their mental game and performance. #mentalperformance #confidence #failure #mentalgame #courtexperformance #control #ownership #athlete #acting
