The Kings County Behavioral Health Department is seeking to fill one current Licensed Psychiatric Technician position to perform routine medical and mental health services related to the care and treatment of mentally ill clients and patients. Psychiatric Technicians are utilized in the Behavioral Health Department reporting to the Behavioral Health Unit Supervisor or upper level management of the department. ? Psychiatric Technician I is the entry-level classification in the series. Incumbents typically work under close supervision or review.? Incumbents in the Psychiatric Technician I classification are expected to move to the II level upon satisfactory completion of the minimum requirements for the higher level and when, upon the recommendation of the Department Head, they have demonstrated the ability to perform independently at the experienced level.?? ? Psychiatric Technician II is the experienced level within the classification series, working with greater independence of action. Incumbents are expected to perform the full range of duties including handling the most complex, sensitive or difficult cases with skill and sound judgment. ? Operation Green Light In advance of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday, Kings County will be participating in Operation Green Light, a nationwide effort by counties, the National Association of Counties (NACo), and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, to show support for veterans and raise awareness around the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to assist veterans and their families. In addition to lighting select county buildings, residents, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to participate by simply changing one light bulb in their home or office space to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and passersby see, or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends and colleagues. By shining a green light, we let our veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported. While this event is focused from November 4th to Veterans Day (November 11th), participants are encouraged to continue shining green light year-round.
