Previously, Nolan served as the director of the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency, where he led more than 750 employees and managed a $277 million budget. He has a strong commitment to public service, with past roles as an elected member of the Vacaville City Council and Vacaville Unified School Board. On top of all that, Nolan was actively involved with several nonprofits focused on children and education, serving on the boards of the Vacaville Public Education Foundation and United Way of Woodland. "Over the course of a career dedicated to public health, Nolan has demonstrated the leadership qualities and creativity to solve difficult problems," said Sonoma County Executive M Christina Rivera. "He is not only committed to the clients he serves, but he also demonstrates deep compassion for the employees doing the work. We are lucky to have him lead the Department of Health Services." Sonoma County now has a voice on the influential California Air Resources Board, which protects the public from the harmful effects of air pollution and leads the state’s fight against climate change. Congratulations to District 5 Supervisor Lynda Hopkins, who was appointed to the 16-member board by Gov. Gavin Newsom. Hopkins has represented west Sonoma County on the Board of Supervisors since 2016 and currently serves as chair. Previously, she was co-owner of Foggy River Farm, worked as a reporter at Sonoma West Times & News, and served as executive director of Sonoma County Farm Trails. She is a graduate of Stanford University, where she earned bachelor’s degrees in earth systems and creative writing/poetry and a master’s degree in earth systems. “With the Clean Air Act and climate action under threat from the Trump administration, joining CARB feels like something tangible I can do to create positive change,” Supervisor Hopkins said. “California can still lead the country and the world in addressing climate change, protecting vulnerable communities that are exposed to the highest risks from air pollution, and ensuring we all have clean air to breathe.” ???
