On International Women’s Day (March 8), we commemorate Miller’s achievements and celebrate under the 2025 theme, “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. On February 15, COUNTRY joined Illinois State University to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the annual cultural dinner featuring Baratunde Thurston. Thurston is an Emmy-nominated, multi-platform storyteller, and producer operating at the intersection of race, tech, democracy, and climate. “Baratunde Thurston served Dr. King’s legacy well,” said Carl Bridges, Senior Vice President and Chief Risk Officer. “I am ever hopeful that we will keep his dream alive. I really enjoyed the Dr. King celebration and left inspired by all of the engaged attendance from students, ISU faculty members and community leaders. It was truly a night to remember.” Kari Sandhaas, Co-Programming Manager for the Multicultural Resource Group added, “Baratunde Thurston was uplifting and inspiring! I especially liked his suggestion to ‘citizen’ as a verb – to participate, invest in relationships, understand power, and commit to the collective good.
