Much thanks to the U.S. Department of Energy and the Better Climate Challenge for leading the Industrial Decarbonization Working Group meetings over the last year. Together with industry leaders, we explored solutions to ongoing challenges in making the financial case for #decarbonization. Key takeaways include: PRESENT VALUE financial calculations allow for the evaluation of decarbonization options that may exceed the traditional 2-3 year payback period, especially when including long-term energy prices with 2-5% annual escalation rates employed. INTERNAL COST OF CARBON places a value on emissions reductions in addition to energy cost reductions to drive investment.
