John S. Morton was an economics teacher in Illinois who became an advocate for economic education nationwide. Morton was instrumental in establishing economics as an Advanced Placement course. He served on the College Board task force to develop the AP Economics curriculum and was later on the exam development committee. He also authored the first edition of CEE’s?AP Economics, now in its fifth edition. In recognition of his significant contributions, CEE honors his legacy through the John Morton Excellence in the Teaching of Economics Awards.

Check out one of our affiliates in action! San Diego Center for Economics Education hosted a "Family Financial Fun Night" to teach financial skills to parents of elementary students at Cajon Valley Union School District.
Exciting News from the San Diego Center for Economics Education! Our Center Director, Anthony Zambelli, recently had the opportunity to introduce?Family Financial Fun Nights?(FFFN) to the Cajon Valley Union School District PTA Council Board—a dynamic event where Pre-K to 5th grade students and their families come together to learn important financial skills through fun, interactive activities. Even better, SDCEE is proud to offer FFFN to schools at no charge! What families can expect at FFFN: Engaging, hands-on stations that teach essential concepts like budgeting, saving, and responsible spending. A bookbag for each child, filled with educational games and resources to keep the learning going at home, generously provided by Cuyamaca College or Grossmont Colleges. A special gift card for every child as a thank-you for participating! Pizza and snacks for all families to enjoy during the event. A big thank you to District Superintendent Dr. David Miyashiro and PTA Council President Edith Hernandez for allowing us to share this exciting program with the district’s PTA leaders. Together, we’re helping to build a brighter financial future for San Diego’s students! Interested in bringing a Family Financial Fun Night to your school? What a great?#EconEdMonth! -Across the nation, CEE and its affiliates offered special events for economics teachers, students, and econ fans -Two more states received Econ Ed Month proclamations from their governors -Students interviewed leading economists like Jeffrey Lacker, Former President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond and Jan Hatzius, Chief Economist of Goldman Sachs,?to explore the pressing issues they care about most -We launched an econ-lover merch store and were surprised that tie-dye was our bestseller! https://lnkd.in/eXfvh27v Thank you to all who participated. Just because October is over, doesn’t mean the learning should end. Students: look out for details on the National Economics Challenge in the coming months. Teachers: continue learning with CEE all year on EconEdLink.org
