Since 1972, the Council on Chemical Abuse has served in a lead role, offering the resources necessary to respond to the complex problems of substance abuse. Designated by the County Commissioners as the Single County Authority (SCA) for Berks County, the Council is responsible for the administration and management of publicly-funded alcohol, tobacco, and drug services. The Council is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors reflective of the local community.

Our Harm Reduction Coordinator Nicole was at a Reading Hospital LifeSavers event on Tuesday. The event helped staff learn about life saving resources. Nicole handed, with the help of her Narcan Bear, handed out NARCAN? Nasal Spray kits and information on harm reduction for substance use.

Teresa handed out over 50 Quit Kits at Alvernia University this afternoon as she continues her #NoNicotineNovember Quit Kit Tour of Berks County. Students love the kits, which include hard candy, gum, fidget toys, quit tips and stickers that say "Be Kind I'm Quitting." Teresa has delivered kits to over a dozen locations so far with plans to hand out 1,000 kits to over 20 Berks County sites.
