Just got home from #SciWri24 (my first time attending!) and already looking forward to next year's meeting... this conference had EVERYTHING: ? A 2.5-hour workshop on science podcast ft. the incomparable Zakiya Whatley, PhD and Cynthia Graber and moderated by yours truly ?? ? Magazine editors wearing silly hats ?? ? A night at the museum-style soiree with hors d'oeuvres, dinosaur fossils, science journalists in praying mantis costumes and pettable snakes ?? ? A tour of North Carolina State University's fluids lab ?? It was SO FUN to meet so many science journalists and communicators in person. Thanks to everyone who came to our panel and to the National Association of Science Writers, Council for the Advancement of Science Writing and Science Communicators of North Carolina for organizing everything! See you next year in PA ??

Just wrapped up my first #SciWri24 in Raleigh, NC! Had the chance to share ideas and connect with inspiring professionals, got great advice at #SciWriMentoring from Betsy Ladyzhets, and shared about the work we do at the Hitchcock Project for Visualizing Science at the University of Nevada, Reno. Thanks to the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, for the travel fellowship and National Association of Science Writers for the experience!

Science writers from around the world made their way to Raleigh over the weekend for #SciWri24 ?? It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with so many bright minds in the field and dive into important discussions, including the “Living and Working on a Hot Planet” session that explored worker heat protections. Grateful for the insights and inspiration to bring back into my climate reporting! ???? Special thanks for support from Burroughs Wellcome Fund & Council for the Advancement of Science Writing ?? #ClimateReporting #ScienceJournalism #HeatResilience #ClimateAction
