Cottonwood Technology Fund''s portfolio company Infinitum developed a heavy-duty PCB-stator motor which is ‘up to 25% more efficient’. In total the company raised almost $400 Million in capital. Infinitum claims that its new heavy-duty air-core motors are up to 25% more efficient than conventional motor and drives Infinitum , the US manufacturer of air-core electric motors, has unveiled a heavy-duty motor with a built in variable-speed drive (VSD) for demanding HVAC fan and pump applications, which it claims is up to 25% more efficient, as well as being 50% lighter and 60% shorter, than conventional motor-and-drive combinations. Other claimed benefits of the new motors are that: ?? Customers can specify a motor to meet an application’s precise power and speed requirements, thus reducing the power needed per motor, and freeing up a site’s electrical infrastructure for other uses. ?? The motors support a choice of communications protocols, including Modbus RTU, BACnet MSTP and analogue. ?? Built-in electronics and control software allow users to configure and fine-tune the motor’s operational parameters, while monitoring its performance, carbon emissions, energy consumption, heat and vibration. ?? The motors’ modular design makes repairs quick and simple. ?? A compact form factor optimises space, reduces the need for wiring, and facilitates direct mounting to pump applications, increasing efficiencies by 10-15%, according to Infinitum.
