?? Today is about strengthening connections that matter. On this Valentine’s Day, we’re reminded that strong connections—both personal and digital—are essential. In the #broadband industry, the work of service providers, network planners, engineers, consultants, governments, and beyond is helping build the foundation for human connections, opportunity, and accessibility. Yes, Valentine’s Day is full of roses are red, violets are blue, sweet tarts shaped like hearts, and maybe a teddy bear and chocolate too. But beyond the roses and chocolates, today is also about the work that keeps people connected—whether across town or across the world. ?? Happy Valentine’s Day to all, and to those working to keep the world connected. #digitaldivide #broadbandaccess??

Creating a national location database demands flexibility, as mapping strategies that work for most areas may not suit others! In unique regions like Alaska ??—with expansive parcels and tribal lands—CostQuest takes extra steps to address unique geographies and accurately identify all Broadband Serviceable Locations (BSLs) for the National Location #Fabric dataset. Key approaches include: ?? Multi-Location Parcel Models: Identifying multiple locations within large parcels rather than treating them as single-location parcels. ?? Building Footprint Extraction: Developing custom building footprints where accurate data is unavailable, a necessity for much of Alaska. ?? Visual Verification: Leveraging human review to enhance location accuracy for challenging areas. ?? Tribal Area Collaboration: Applying multi-location parcel models in tribal regions and working closely with tribes to better understand their unique landscapes to improve BSL identification. These tailored strategies ensure precise data collection for states like Alaska while upholding nationwide standardization and consistency. ?? When our mission is to identify all BSLs across the U.S., Alaska is a great example of our commitment to designing innovative processes that make it possible! Leslie Stegeman and Hailey Farrow are at the #ATAWinterConference in Waikoloa, HI this week, if you’re there and want to dive deeper into our mapping efforts in Alaska. You can find their contact info on the conference Yapp app. #broadband #broadbandmapping
