  • Last Saturday, CMSD hosted our most successful Compost Giveaway and Shredding event to date! Nearly 900 customers brought paper to shred and recycle, and picked up free compost made from recycled food scraps and green waste! ?????? We want to give a special THANK YOU to our customers, staff, Board and Committee Members, and our partners at Orange Coast College and CR&R Incorporated for making this event possible! To learn about upcoming CMSD events, visit www.cmsdca.gov/events.

    Branding & Communications

Hurray~ It gives me some exciting pleasure to share that my?Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Reciprocal Project is one of the two projects that?have been selected for funding by the?U.S. Department of State this year. This unexpected news really hypes me up during my sabbatical as it's the perfect opportunity for me to pay it forward during this self-reflection time. In this project, I will welcome a U.S expert Scott Carroll to Vietnam - who were my fantastic host when I spent the amazing five weeks in California last year. We will be visiting prominent stakeholders in Vietnam to share the best sustainability practices from across the United States and discuss how we can strengthen the communication of green initiatives to better engage the public and ensure the?efficiency?of sustainability?efforts in?Vietnam. Bringing with him over three decades of professional public experience, Scott is an award-winning servant leader who has successfully led the development of innovative local sustainability government programs. These include the unique initiative of using?anaerobic digestion technology to turn food waste to renewable?energy. Other sharing we will?be touching?on covers the success case studies of University of California sustainable campus, single use plastic ordinance?of Los Angeles?County and San Francisco BottleBank Mobile CRV program. From the final week of June, we will start meeting with leaders from the Ministry and local Departments of Natural Resources and Environment, public and private institutions alongside factories of some top MNCs in the sustainability playfield to exchange knowledge and share insights. We will also be working with some local organisations to test the feasibility?of piloting the recycling program for food waste in Vietnam and help them better communicate their efforts. I am so excited and hopeful for the road ahead! If you or your organisation think we can be a great match to exchange practices or simply wish to learn more new cool stuff to make your work more fun, please do not hesitate to reach out and we are happy to arrange a session to meet with you and your?audience. For a greener and more sustainable Vietnam, we hope this could turn to something even grander and more impactful. I can hardly wait!
