?? [TransformERS event] Training School on Sustainability Transformations and?Epistemic Injustice, 22-24/06/2024, Leeds, UK https://lnkd.in/du8YQegu Dear All, I would like to draw your attention to the TransformERS summer school and the opportunities to apply to attend (or recommend to your friends and colleagues). Our first Training School will be held on 22-24th June 2025, and will be based in Leeds, UK. Addressing Epistemic Injustice in Sustainability Transformations, the Training School will interweave inputs, dialogues and creative sessions with leading academics to consider: Whose knowledge counts when thinking about and pursuing sustainability transformations? Where do our theories about transitions, transformations, and transformative change come from? What perspectives about transformation and sustainability do we privilege or include and what perspectives do we marginalise or exclude? But also: What can we do to have marginalised perspectives and voices enter the conversation about sustainability and transformation? What transformation do our research practices and spaces need to go through to create transformative change? What about ourselves as academics and as researchers? We have set a first deadline of 30th November to allow those who need visas to have confirmation in plenty of time. Please consider applying! Best wishes Julia Leventon, TransformERS Chair

关于我们
The overarching aim of ???????????????????????? is to inform research, policy and practice for transformations that deliver justice in a changing global context by bringing together and positioning research relevant to societal transformation. Such societal transformations are cited as highly necessary to avoid catastrophic climate change and biodiversity loss, and are called for in the IPCC and IPBES frameworks, as well as the European Green Deal. However, current research into transformations is highly fragmented. Pieces of relevant knowledge are held by policy-makers, practitioners, and researchers, from within a range of contexts, disciplines, projects and perspectives, both within and outside of the sustainability research community. There is a need to put these separate pieces together to ?? ? identify what transformation-relevant knowledge is held and by whom ?? ? understand how the different pieces fit together; ?? ? understand what the big picture is – what we know about transformations collectively; and ?? ? identify the missing pieces – understand what we still need to create knowledge on. ???????????? ? We are a recognised source of cutting-edge, transdisciplinary knowledge on how to create and support societal transformations for sustainability. ?????????????? ? We create materials and opportunities for training transformations researchers in the transdisciplinary skills needed to inform and create transformative change. ???????????? ?????????????????? ? Our practices as an Action, and the outputs we create embed values that are important to us; and, are essential in delivering the kinds of care-full, transdisciplinary, sustainability work we seek to achieve. These values are: PLURALITY · SLOWNESS · TRUST · PRACTICALITY · CREATIVITY AND O PENNESS INCLUSIVITY COURAGE · EMERGENCE · ACCOUNTABILITY · COMPLEXITY · EMPOWERMENT REFLEXIVITY · VALUE-ADDED · COMMITMENT · AWARENESS

???????????????????????????? ???????????? is not a clean process. Climate change, biodiversity, consumption and production are ?????????????? ?????????????????? with one another. As such, the most effective solutions cannot be found in isolation. Instead, the solutions are often just as interconnected and complex as the challenges themselves. Over the past two days, leading experts in biodiversity, ecology, climate change, marine science, sustainable supply chains and communication gathered at the adelphi headquarters in Berlin for the EU BIOTRAILS General Assembly (a 100% EU-funded project!). Two days of intense and highly productive discussions, deliberations and collaboration focused on pathways to accelerate change across the ????????????????????????-??????????????-?????????????? nexus. Out now! "Institutional prefiguration: community energy development through spaces of orchestration": https://lnkd.in/gv8QSTQm Harry Lewis Lawford's first publication, which I'm very pleased to have co-authored as our final output from the Sun4All Project. "As a response to calls for decentralised energy infrastructure and inclusive decision-making processes in energy transitions, renewable energy communities (RECs) have emerged as innovative instruments to combat energy poverty and promote low-carbon energy. During 2021–2024, the Eurosolar4All project developed four solar photovoltaic (PV) RECs in four local contexts in Rome (Italy), Almada (Portugal), Coeur de Savoie (France), and Barcelona (Spain). Funded through the Horizon 2020 framework programme, the project aimed to produce diverse replicable models to alleviate energy poverty in vulnerable households. This paper examines the Eurosolar4All project and its pilots through the lens of prefigurative politics focused on local institutions. We draw on two questionnaires implemented across the four pilots, 18 semi-structured interviews with prospective beneficiaries, eight expert interviews with practitioners and participant observation during project meetings and site visits. The empirical analysis shows how the pilots worked to identify and empower vulnerable households while facing challenges related to path dependence and institutional inertia. These challenges relate to the project leaders’ (1) intramunicipal, (2) intermunicipal, and (3) trans-local work towards the enablement of pro-poor solar RECs. We show how the prefigurative politics of implementing the Eurosolar4All scheme surface in diverse ways in and across the cases and a related community of practice with ten follower municipalities and theorise the different levels as spaces of orchestration for prefigurative politics. We discuss how orchestration can counter an incumbent preference for centralised large-scale energy infrastructure, deeply embedded in modern energy systems (path dependence), to realise the potential social benefits of energy communities. In closing, we reflect upon how this enhances our understanding of the systemic limits to rapid upscaling of energy communities."
