[TransformERS event] Training School on Sustainability Transformations and?Epistemic Injustice, 22-24/06/2024, Leeds, UK https://lnkd.in/du8YQegu Dear All, I would like to draw your attention to the TransformERS summer school and the opportunities to apply to attend (or recommend to your friends and colleagues). Our first Training School will be held on 22-24th June 2025, and will be based in Leeds, UK. Addressing Epistemic Injustice in Sustainability Transformations, the Training School will interweave inputs, dialogues and creative sessions with leading academics to consider: Whose knowledge counts when thinking about and pursuing sustainability transformations? Where do our theories about transitions, transformations, and transformative change come from? What perspectives about transformation and sustainability do we privilege or include and what perspectives do we marginalise or exclude? But also: What can we do to have marginalised perspectives and voices enter the conversation about sustainability and transformation? What transformation do our research practices and spaces need to go through to create transformative change? What about ourselves as academics and as researchers? The overarching aim of ???????????????????????? is to inform research, policy and practice for transformations that deliver justice in a changing global context by bringing together and positioning research relevant to societal transformation. Such societal transformations are cited as highly necessary to avoid catastrophic climate change and biodiversity loss, and are called for in the IPCC and IPBES frameworks, as well as the European Green Deal. However, current research into transformations is highly fragmented. Pieces of relevant knowledge are held by policy-makers, practitioners, and researchers, from within a range of contexts, disciplines, projects and perspectives, both within and outside of the sustainability research community. There is a need to put these separate pieces together to ?? ? identify what transformation-relevant knowledge is held and by whom ?? ? understand how the different pieces fit together; ?? ? understand what the big picture is – what we know about transformations collectively; and ?? ? identify the missing pieces – understand what we still need to create knowledge on. ???????????? ? We are a recognised source of cutting-edge, transdisciplinary knowledge on how to create and support societal transformations for sustainability. ?????????????? ? We create materials and opportunities for training transformations researchers in the transdisciplinary skills needed to inform and create transformative change. ???????????? ?????????????????? ? Our practices as an Action, and the outputs we create embed values that are important to us; and, are essential in delivering the kinds of care-full, transdisciplinary, sustainability work we seek to achieve. My research centre Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS Koper) is celebrating its 30th anniversary. We held a ceremony yesterday and reflected on its history of dedication, collaboration and perseverance. We received an award ?? by the President of Slovenia, which made me feel proud of the collective commitment to #science, societal #impact and the #local specificities we work with across the institutes and units, including the Mediterranean Institute for Environmental Studies.
