Working to shape the national conversation with nonprofit sector is both a joy and a pleasure - but it is also a responsibility. Thank you Standards for Excellence for creating the framework to guide the ethics for our sector. It was a pleasure to get to work on this project. https://lnkd.in/gYKZnnkX
Last week, I attended the launch of the newly revised Standards for Excellence Code of Ethics and the supporting educational materials by the Standards for Excellence Institute?. As the team walked through the intentional integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the Code and curriculum, I felt an immense sense of pride—not just in the work itself, but in what it stands for. This revision wasn’t just an update. It was a commitment—one that was years in the making. I was honored to serve on the DEI Task Force that laid the foundation for these changes and to help design the new educational framework that expands and deepens the resources available to nonprofit leaders. The curriculum grew from 27 to 49 packets, covering critical areas like strategic planning and financial oversight, ultimately producing more than 1,500 pages of guidance—more than ever before. As someone who worked on the project, I know the fingerprints of many dedicated people are all over it. At a time when so many organizations are retreating from conversations about equity, it feels significant to stand by convictions that strengthen our sector. I’m grateful to have played a role in this national effort. More than that, I’m hopeful—because this kind of work isn’t just about what has been built. It’s about what’s possible next. #NonprofitLeadership #EthicalGovernance #StandardsForExcellence
