The future is not going to look like the past, and that is something our linear minds have a hard time grasping. Are you confident you can lead in this new world?
?? I have been studying climate change since my freshman year in Earth Science in 2000. We have watched the scientific predictions come to pass since, but on a more accellerated timescale.
???? I'm not a doomsdayer, I am a realist that has deeply studied the history of the planet, what contributes to climate, human history and the environmental changes we collectively created. I also feel it in my core, and I think you do also: change is here.
?? Make no mistake, this is a profoundly emotional experience. The grief runs deep as we lose our beloved forests, rivers, lakes and animal relatives. And of course, we lose homes and towns and family: in floods, hurricanes, tornados, fires, landslides, war, famine, and a pandemic.
? When faced with a massive systemic change, what can be done?
?? Simple: I take responsibility for myself:
?Do my best to help
??Do the emotional work to be able to expand my capacity to help
?Minimize my contribution to making it worse, while accepting that I am also a part of the system creating the problem
?Save what I can for future generations
?Leave what is beyond my control to larger forces
?Hold a vision of a brighter future that I know is possible
Simple, but not easy.
??Its my calling to help others increase their emotional resilience and have as much energy as possible to be able to lead instead of become overwhelmed in these waves of change.
?? In response to the new year and what we are faced with now, I am offering a free 7 Day Peak Energy Challenge for Analytical High Achievers, starting on Jan 26th. This is a crash course on peak performance for?ambitious leaders who understand there is more they can do, more to learn, and it is best done in community with an expert mentor.

?? 16 of the 20 most destructive wildfires in CA history have occurred in the last ten years and 19 of 20 since 2003.
??The Paris Accord set a "do not cross" line of 1.5oC?average global warming above the pre-industrial age. This past year reached nearly 1.6oC warming with scientists agreeing that limiting warming to 1.5oC has failed and catastrophic 2oC warming is very?likely unless massive actions are taken.
??In 31 hours of post presidential debate coverage this past year on cable news the climate was not mentioned once.
??Do you want to lead or be overwhelmed?
