We believe that strengthening local capacity, mobilizing communities, sensitizing health service providers, and embedding strong response mechanisms into communities and health systems can lead to resilient, healthy environments that are free from violence. As we continue to break the silence around GBV during these 16 Days of Activism, the Corus family of organizations is launching our latest InUnison digital newsletter. An ensemble of long-serving, global leaders in international development and humanitarian assistance
关于我们
Corus International is an ensemble of long-serving, global leaders in international development and humanitarian assistance committed to ending poverty and building healthy communities across Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Africa. Made up of several non-profit and for-profit organizations – Lutheran World Relief, IMA World Health, CGA Technologies, Ground Up Investing, and Farmers Market Brands – the Corus family's global networks expand wide and our local partnerships run deep. Alongside communities and local partners in fragile settings, Corus' dedicated experts across the family of organizations integrate disciplines, approaches and resources to overcome global health challenges, develop productive and stable economies, improve resilience in the face of climate change, and respond to natural disasters and humanitarian crises. With the support of our family's diverse set of partners and funding – from multi- and bilateral institutions and foundations to the private sector and individuals – we invest in solutions that are innovative, scalable, holistic and move the needle towards transformational change. Our dedicated experts around the globe work together to bring life-saving aid and long-term hope to even the most fragile corners of the world and in the most challenging of circumstances. We connect disciplines, approaches and people because we know that the more collaboration we can efficiently achieve, the wider, more systemic impact we can create. It’s belief and action, in harmony.

Pachamanca, which means "Earth pot" in Quechua, is a method of cooking a large meal using heated stones placed in an earthen oven. The tradition is practiced in the remote Andes region of Peru and has its roots in the pre-Colombian Inca empire. ????? Pachamanca is more than preparing food. Through pachamanca, people express their affection, their gratitude, their recognition, and their admiration with one another, according to Jorge Huapaya Solano, a former staff member of Corus organization Lutheran World Relief. In this video, you'll see pachamanca being prepared in the Cocha community of Castrovirreyna, Peru. This wouldn't have been possible a decade ago. Lutheran World Relief has been working in Castrovirreyna and the surrounding communities for the past 15 years to address malnutrition, improve food security and strengthen rural livelihoods. The families of Castrovirreyna used to survive off of potatoes. Now they thrive raising healthy livestock, tending to verdant greenhouse gardens and expanded fields, and selling the surplus they don't consume as part of their nutritious diets. Noshaba sheds light on the importance of gender-responsive programming that is driven by communities and adapted to every context. #16Days #NoExcuse #EndViolence #GBV

“Every 10 Minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women." - UN Women This could have been Nasrin. Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. 1 in 3 women experience violence in their lifetime, and for thousands, it ends with their murder by someone they know. The prevalence of gender-based violence (GBV) is why Corus organizations strive to mainstream addressing it into our work with families, communities and governments around the world. As we kick off our 16 Days of Activism against GBV, Nasrin's story is an important reminder that women surviving through GBV are strong but often their hope for escape is inextricably tied to the constraints of gender norms, limited opportunities, and money. That is where a strong support network and economic empowerment can make the difference - as was the case for Nasrin. ?? Watch the video below to see how Nasrin saved her and her daughter's life and then went on to open her own business in Nepal. #16Days #NoExcuse #EndViolence #GBV #Nepal

Nepal is participating in COP29, bringing their climate challenges to the global stage. But will solutions be forthcoming this time as the country's climate disasters worsen? In his latest op-ed, our Nepal program director Narayan Gyawali, PhD. says that despite its minimal contribution to global emissions, Nepal is disproportionately affected by the severe impacts of climate change. He makes the case that climate justice, financial support, and technology transfer are necessary to address Nepal’s vulnerabilities and ensuring a sustainable future for its people. Why is Nepal's climate concern not being heard on the global stage?

The humanitarian crisis in Lebanon continues to deteriorate as more than 1.2 million people have been displaced internally since the conflict escalated in early October. The situation has been particularly critical in Nabatieh, Bekaa, Saida, and Beirut’s suburbs, where bombardments have devastated infrastructure and livelihoods. Corus organization Lutheran World Relief has teamed up to meet immediate WASH, mental health, food security and non-food item needs with four local implementing partners — Caritas Lebanon, Michel Daher Foundation, Makhzoumi Foundation, and DPNA. See the latest sitrep to learn more about Lutheran World Relief's response to the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Lebanon: https://lnkd.in/eH_REw3Y #Lebanon #IDPs #SitReps #HumanitarianResponse #WASH #MHPSS #FoodSecurity #NFIs [Photo credit: Development for People and Nature Association (DPNA)]
