I see a fair number of posts with, "Why is everything wrapped in plastic?!?!". It's because it drastically reduces food loss, which will help reduce climate change. The image below shows "open" broccoli, vs broccoli wrapped in stretch wrap. Food waste generates ~8% of climate change, and simply eliminating plastic could exacerbate this problem. Sustainable packaging (such as using carbon negative raw materials from TripleW) and recovering both food waste and packaging could help solve the issues. https://lnkd.in/g4ZnUshG

California's and Washington's organic diversion laws are presenting huge opportunities for waste valorization. It's exciting to see how technology and societal change can work together to create a more sustainable future. https://lnkd.in/gmn3icxJ
California is forging ahead with food waste recycling. But is it too much, too fast?

As the winter turns wet in the Northwest, it's time for ski movies. One of my favorites all time is "All I Can". It has a great message about not doing less (not travelling less, not adventuring less) but instead being more ambitious and trying to really affect change. I think there's also a potential lesson about entrepreneurship and trying to really affect climate change. These skiers are doing things that look impossible, but they're pulling them off. Climate entrepreneurs need to have a bold vision that may look impossible to some, but we all need to pull these things off to leave a good world for our kids. I highly recommend checking out All I Can. https://lnkd.in/gWrhD3jT

This is pretty awesome and near to my heart, and they had a recent podcast on using AI to help engineers market. I have an almost 8 yo daughter that loves robots, and I'm about to put in a large infrastructure development grant application that includes recruiting women (and other under-represented folks) into automation and stem. Anyone visited the BFNUF (Biomass Feedstock National User Facility, or "Buffnuff"). Seems like a fantastic spot to be able to test and demonstrate recycling technologies. https://lnkd.in/gvjkpp26

WA State energy and impact NGO's - this could be EPIC (sorry) The DOE wants to fund innovation clusters. I've got space and power in central WA, and Yakima Maker Space is a great collaborator. Reach out to me if you're interested - happy to coordinate but won't do much as I'm busy changing the world of packaging. :-) https://lnkd.in/gtn2umUH
