Sharing our new article on short and long contact timescale tack response of uncured carbon/epoxy composites relevant to enabling defect-free automated fiber placement manufacturing. With our approach we are able to characterize the tackiness at as low as 10 millisecond contact timescales. This work is led by graduate student Debrup Chakraborty in collaboration with Karan Kodagali, Sreehari Rajan Kattil and Prof. Michael Sutton. Just published (open access) in Advanced Manufacturing - new research deploying the VIC-3D #digitalimagecorrelation system as part of a "a novel approach for fabricating high-resolution components with both spatially tailored material properties and design by leveraging selective powder deposition (SPD) in conventional LPBF processing"! We are pleased to inform that we successfully conducted a 3 day hands-on workshop and training on 3D Digital Image Correlation at New York University Abu Dhabi. We tested on various 3D Printed materials, concrete and had lots of insightful discussions. Thanks to Dr. Oraib Al-Ketan, Ph.D. for being a great host as always whenever we are at NYU AD and by providing us with this wonderful opportunity and we look forward to more such collaborations in the future.
