The Corrections Foundation was established in 1996 as a non-profit Direct Support Organization to the Department of Corrections pursuant to Chapter 944.802, Florida Statutes. The Foundation is supported by three staff members and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The board members are appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Corrections to serve two-year terms. They are composed from a vast array of backgrounds and experience and serve under the leadership of President Louie L. Wainwright. The Corrections Foundation is the first Direct Support Organization of its kind nationally in the field of corrections and serves as a model. Our Mission The Mission of the Corrections Foundation is to support the programs, personnel, and services of the Department of Corrections through grants, contributions, and community partnerships in the interest of public safety. Our Membership Membership is comprised of department employees, contractors, retired department employees, and individuals from various other state and private agencies. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible and receive the maximum charitable deduction allowed by law.

The deadlines for requesting disaster relief for Hurricanes Helene and Milton are approaching. The last day to request assistance for Hurricane Helene is this Saturday, November 23. The deadline for Hurricane Milton is Sunday, December 8. You can request assistance through your Warden, Circuit Administrator, or Central Office supervisor. We continue to be laser-focused on providing financial assistance to FDC personnel impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Between the two storms, we've provided 897 staff with $524,350. We've also purchased $30,000 in tarps that have been distributed throughout Florida. We continue to receive and process requests for assistance daily and will do so until the job is complete. The Corrections Foundation has assisted 669 FDC personnel and contractors with $395,850 in disaster relief assistance in the two weeks since Hurricane Helene made landfall in north Florida. We will begin assisting those affected by Hurricane Milton when the initial reports are submitted. If you were impacted by Milton, you can make a request for disaster relief assistance through your Warden or Circuit Administrator. You will need to provide pictures and proof of address and submit a completed Disaster Relief form. The Corrections Foundation can assist with total loss or major damage to a home or vehicle. As Milton approaches Florida, the Corrections Foundation continues providing financial assistance to those affected by Helene. As of yesterday afternoon, we've provided $367,600 to 611 FDC personnel and contractors. Our thoughts are with those who must remain at their posts. We are on standby and ready to assist those affected by Hurricane Milton.

Corrections Foundation staff continue assisting FDC personnel affected by Helene. As of yesterday, we provided $328,600 in disaster relief to 535 FDC officers, staff, and contractors. Those numbers will grow today. We will also begin assisting those affected by Milton once we receive requests. Yesterday, we also ordered tarps that will be delivered today to Sumter CI that can be immediately distributed to those who need them. We will be there for you.

Since Helene made landfall and devastated many areas of north Florida and south Georgia, the Corrections Foundation has provided 440 FDC officers, staff, and contractors with $270,050.
