关于我们
CorpsAfrica is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 by a former Peace Corps Volunteer seeking to recognize and build on Peace Corps's enormous success by offering the same transformative experience to emerging leaders in Africa - giving them the chance to be a part of the solution for their own countries. CorpsAfrica applies the newest and best approaches to international development, including empowering local communities, promoting collaboration among NGOs and our development partners, monitoring and impact evaluation. We recruit men and women to move to high-poverty communities within their own countries for a year and initiate projects that fulfill key needs in their communities and whose impact and success can be carefully measured and monitored. CorpsAfrica started in Morocco and has expanded Senegal, Malawi, and Rwanda.

Before our swearing-in ceremony next week, the exchange volunteers from CorpsAfrica/Maroc were given time to advance our language and cultural facilitation. We traveled to the village of Ijoukak for five days to enjoy the serene environment and complete our lessons. Today marks our fourth day in this beautiful village, and the experience is already shaping our understanding of how we will approach the communities we will serve. I continue to be amazed by the incredible hospitality and kindness of the Moroccan people, which makes me even more excited about the journey ahead. Pre-Service Training in Tizi N'oucheg I’ve just completed an immersive training in the beautiful village of Tizi N'oucheg with CorpsAfrica/Maroc and I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity. Over the past weeks, I’ve gained much more than technical skills. I’ve learned valuable lessons in resilience, community engagement, and empathy. This training has enhanced my ability to closely collaborate with rural communities and understand their specific needs, enabling me to better support them in their sustainable development projects. Every exchange, every challenge overcome, and every smile shared made this experience truly special. I am excited to continue this journey and put these learnings into practice in the field as I serve the community of Ouagit Talat N'Yaakoub. A huge thank you to all the incredible people who made this experience possible. Together, we’re making a difference! On September 26th, during the United Nations General Assembly 2024, CorpsAfrica had the distinct honor of hosting a remarkable evening at Rockefeller Center, Inc. in New York City, celebrating the inspiring stories and leadership of African youth. ??? The theme of the evening;?African Youth Driving Transformative Change,?highlighted the critical role young people play in shaping Africa's future, and it was a night filled with commitment, reflection, and hope. The evening began with a powerful spoken word performance by Okechukwu Iweala, whose words captured the essence of youth leadership and set the tone for the night. ?? This was followed by a warm welcome from CorpsAfrica Founder and CEO, Liz Fanning, who greeted our esteemed dignitaries, guests, and friends of CorpsAfrica, acknowledging their continued support for our mission. We were honoured to have Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Representative to the United Nations, as our keynote speaker. Her inspiring words on the importance of youth leadership and community-driven development in Africa resonated deeply with all in attendance. She reminded us of Africa's pivotal role in the future of our world, stating: "By 2050, 1 in 4 people on the planet will be African. African countries are experiencing what some have called a 'Youthquake.' One that brings tremendous opportunity." Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield has been a staunch advocate for Africa’s growth and development, and we are deeply grateful for her presence and support. ?? A special highlight of the evening was the presentation of the CorpsAfrica Award to H.E. Madam ELLEN JOHNSON SIRLEAF, former President of Liberia and the first woman elected head of state in Africa. Her legacy as a trailblazer for women in leadership and her dedication to African youth continue to inspire generations. We are profoundly grateful to Madam Sirleaf for her invaluable contributions and for gracing our event with her presence. ???? The event also gave us the opportunity to showcase the powerful stories of the CorpsAfrica Alumni Network, who continue to make a profound impact across Africa: ???? Mourad Abdennebi - CorpsAfrica/Maroc Alumnus, 2014 ???? Hiba Tazi - CorpsAfrica/Maroc Alumna, 2013 ???? Billy Makombola - CorpsAfrica/Malawi Alumnus, 2019 Their personal journeys and commitment to driving community change reminded us of the tremendous potential that lies within Africa’s youth. ?? We would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, H.E. Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and all the dignitaries, guests, and friends of CorpsAfrica who joined us for this special evening. At CorpsAfrica, we are proud to stand alongside these changemakers and witness the transformative power of volunteerism and youth leadership. Together, through local communities and volunteers, we are igniting a sustainable future for Africa. #ThisIsCorpsAfrica

Come rain or shine, the Rugi and Rutindo communities will not let their goals go unattained! Last week, these communities, facilitated by Volunteers Clementine Rahayi and Emmanuel NIYONKURU in Musanze District, harvested 4,163 kg of Irish potatoes from 1.5 hectares of land, generating 2,694,000 RWF to be reinvested in their Tamarillo farming project, which currently has 3,340 trees. The Irish potatoes serve as a secondary activity, supporting the expansion of the Tamarillo farming project. Additionally, members are involved in various income-generating activities to diversify their income streams. #ThisIsCorpsAfrica
