As Chefs, we get it—holidays are all about good food, great company, and making memories. It’s also the perfect time to appreciate the way food nourishes us and brings everyone together. With all the excitement, finding a little balance can make the season even better. These easy tips can help you enjoy all the flavors and fun without missing a beat—because the holidays are about feeling good, not perfect! Thank you to our Registered Dietitians, Melissa Ferris, MS, RDN, LDN and Kristen Vander Woude, MS, RDN, LDN for helping wellness stay top of mind through these easy to remember tips: ·?Don’t skip meals – While it may be tempting to "save” calories for the big feast, skipping meals often leads to overeating later due to extreme hunger. Instead, fuel up with a well-balanced meal that includes some protein, fiber & healthy fats to keep cravings in check and energy steady. ·?Focus on abundance, not restriction – Rather than avoiding your favorite holiday dishes, focus on what you can add to your plate. Seasonal vegetables like Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, parsnips, kale, and Swiss chard make for flavorful, nutrient-packed sides that pair perfectly with traditional holiday favorites. ·?Make smart beverage choices – If you’re enjoying cocktails and other alcoholic beverages, moderation is key. Balance your festive sips with hydrating options like sparkling water, unsweetened tea, or a fun mocktail. Staying hydrated not only will keep you feeling your best but also supports digestion. ·?Get moving – After your meal, enjoy some light activity by taking a walk around the neighborhood. Not only does movement aid in digestion, but even a short walk can help regulate blood sugar levels—an added benefit after a holiday feast! ·?Ditch the guilt – The holidays are about joy, connection, and celebration. No matter what ends up on your plate, embrace the moment and savor the experience. One day won’t make or break your health—what matters most is the happiness shared with loved ones. #HealthyHolidays #HolidayWellness #MindfulEating #StayBalanced

As we approach the holiday season, it’s the ideal time to focus on healthy habits that foster productivity, engagement, and overall well-being within your organization. This month, our Registered Dietitian, Kristen Vander Woude, MS, RDN, LDN and Executive Chef, Laura Bell, teamed up to present a BeWell Kitchen Experience—an interactive program designed to teach essential kitchen skills and prepare a wholesome meal while exploring the powerful connection between nutrition and performance. They showcased recipes like Blueberry Peach Overnight Oats and Mediterranean Sweet Potatoes, aligning perfectly with this month's BeWell theme: Boosting Gut Health. Our BeWell Kitchen Experiences are more than a culinary demonstration—they’re an innovative way to align your foodservice amenities with your organization’s health, wellness, and sustainability initiatives. These events strengthen community, inspire collaboration, and empower employees with the knowledge and skills to make healthier choices, both at work and at home, especially right before the holiday season.
