Our Fair Chance Hiring cohort supports employers working to reach the untapped talent pool of 70 million Americans—one in three adults—who have a criminal record in collaboration with Cara Plus and Chicagoland Workforce Funder Alliance. Companies who are able to do this work successfully are benefitting from strong talent, increased retention, and meaningful improvements to their internal culture. Over the nine-month program, cohort members receive ongoing support as they dive into their company-specific talent practices. Want to gain this competitive advantage? We are an alliance of companies using our assets and capabilities to address inequities in the greater Chicago region
关于我们
Think Differently. Act Collectively. The Corporate Coalition of Chicago is an alliance of companies working to reduce racial and economic inequities through the power of their business practices. Working together, members challenge business as usual and identify and implement new ways to deploy their capital, capabilities, and employee enthusiasm to help build a thriving Chicago region where assets and opportunities are more equitably shared. Our Approach: Business UNusual 1. Move beyond philanthropy Philanthropy plays a critical role in our region, but businesses can have a greater impact than philanthropists alone. When companies challenge themselves to do business in ways that actively address inequities, change is possible. Equity and business success become linked—each promotes the other's growth. 2. Rethink business investment and operations Large and small, public and private, old and new—businesses are the lifeblood of our region. To reduce and sustain reductions in inequality, companies must invest and operate in ways that help businesses, residents, and the entire region thrive. 3. Take action Our members focus on what they can do today to create sustainable change in the Chicago region. The Coalition offers practical and innovative initiatives that amplify the impact of each hour and dollar spent. 4. Work together When we act together, we can challenge "business as usual" and build something new in its place. We can pool our resources and know-how and hold each other accountable for doing more. Together, we have the potential to change the culture of doing business in Chicago.

Having a front row seat to the work of the Corporate Coalition of Chicago over the past five years, I'm inspired by Brian Fabes vision and leadership. The growth in corporate membership is a reflection of his leadership and the great work being done by the entire team. A big shoutout to Holli Wertheimer, Lincoln J Chandler, PhD, Elizabeth Mieliwocki, Marcos Gonzales, Sara Wasserteil, Stefanie Hest, Stephanie Dolan, Antoine Watson, and Anne Ladky! Thanks for all you are doing to help companies reduce racial and economic inequities in support of business success and a thriving regional economy.? #BusinessUNusual #RedefiningEthicalNorms
A little more than five years ago, a group of business leaders in Chicago formed the Corporate Coalition of Chicago, an alliance of companies committed to the idea that the responsibility of business is not just to make a profit, but also to create a safer, more thriving region for everyone. Today, more than 50 member companies share that mission. Looking ahead, we remain committed to supporting companies as they make positive changes in their practices and to building a stronger voice for the new ethical norms of business.

Human-centered executive driving strategic partnerships, storytelling, and building an economy that works for all
Over the last week, I’ve been thinking a lot about parachutes. Not the kind you played with in gym class, but the one a fighter pilot might pull to eject from a downward spiraling plane. It’s the escape hatch. Or in writing, the escape clause. At last week’s Corporate Coalition of Chicago meeting, Brian Fabes reminded us about the escape clauses in Milton Friedman’s famous essay. In particular, he shared how Friedman called out that his ideas only work if business leaders follow the ethical norms of society. He challenged us to think about our role – or specifically: ? When we decide it doesn’t make sense to exclude one third of the workforce because of their past mistakes or circumstances… ? Or when we invest capital and jobs into underinvested communities for a different type of risk and reward… ? Or when we give employees internal support to deal with past or current trauma… … we are changing the ethical norms of society. Thank you to Brian for sharing these sage words, as well as inspiring remarks from Gil C. Quiniones, CEO of ComEd, for sharing how ComEd’s experience has impacted how they think about talent, Marie Trzupek Lynch, CHRO of Morningstar for exploring what it means to be in HR in this age, Julia Stasch, former CEO of the MacArthur Foundation for stretching our imagination with new forms of capital investment, and Eileen Mitchell, Regional President of AT&T for reinforcing the need for this work. We have a lot of work to do. However, when I think about parachutes this week, it won’t be about escape hatches, it will be about how we can give folks a softer landing for those who need it.?

President & CEO of ComEd - an Exelon company. We are powering the lives of more than 9 million northern Illinoisians.
It’s always energizing to be among business leaders dedicated to advancing economic opportunity in under resourced communities - especially in the south and west sides of Chicago. Thanks to the Corporate Coalition of Chicago for giving me the opportunity to be Co-Chair of the Coalition and for inviting me to share how ComEd is taking action in #OurCommunity - and to recognize the deep commitment that other Chicago companies have made to support the Coalition’s mission. Kudos to the Coalition’s Managing Director Brian Fabes and his team for another impactful year. Thanks as well to Marie Trzupek Lynch and Morningstar for hosting our last meeting of 2024. Looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together in the new year! Learn more about the Corporate Coalition of Chicago here ?? https://lnkd.in/gXbs77uU.

The Corporate Coalition’s Corporate Connector brought together?Green Era Chicago Campus and Amazon to discuss potential business partnerships for more sustainable food waste management and community engagement. Green Era’s innovative approach was exactly what Amazon needed. “Green Era is doing incredible work,” Sarah Glavin, Head of Community Affairs at Amazon, Chicago explained. “They focus on workforce development, creating opportunities in Auburn Gresham, and offering environmental education, access to food, and health equity.” Green Era’s anaerobic digester transforms food waste into nutrient-rich compost and renewable energy. This helps urban farmers and community gardeners and supports Green Era’s broader mission of boosting local food production, economic growth, and environmental health. By turning waste into resources, Green Era is creating jobs and supporting urban agriculture in its community and beyond. The Corporate Connector is uniting companies with small businesses and nonprofits to advance equity. When we align corporate expertise with community needs, both parties grow—and so does #Chicago.?Read more below! #NeighborhoodDevelopment #Partnership #CommunityInvestment #Corporations #BusinessUNusual #AuburnGresham #Austin #SouthSide #Compost #AnaerobicDigestion #ProcessImprovement #Communication #CorporateConnector #HumanConnections #FoodWaste
