Survivors of Suicide Loss Day - Today is for you. Losing someone is an indescribable pain and we want to encourage our military family to use the outdoors, travel, and recreation as pathways that can support your healing journey. Here are some ways to find comfort and connection today: ?? Take a nature walk or hike: Being in nature helps clear the mind and provides a sense of grounding. Bring along a journal to write down memories of your loved one or thoughts that come to you along the way. ?? Visit a meaningful or scenic place: Whether it’s a quiet beach, a mountain overlook, or a favorite spot of your loved one, being there can foster reflection and connection. ?? Try an outdoor activity: Kayaking, paddleboarding, or even just tossing a ball around can be a healthy way to channel emotions and create moments of peace. ?? Plan a trip in their honor: Organize a visit to a place they always wanted to go or somewhere you’ve always dreamed of. Dedicate the experience to their memory. ?? Gather your community: Organize a small group for an outdoor gathering or service project to support others who may also be grieving. The act of helping can be healing. ? Light a candle at sunset: Take a moment to reflect, meditate, or pray outdoors as you honor their light and memory. As a community, we understand the unique challenges military life can bring, and that’s why connection is so important. You are not alone. Reach out to someone who cares, whether it’s a friend, family member, or organization. Together, we can heal and grow stronger. Painting on scars… It’s not easy for me… Blending them in… the feeling… all to real. Scars tell stories…. Some are visible—a jagged line, a faded mark, a patch of rough skin. Others are invisible—etched into the mind, carved into the heart…. …but all scars, whether seen or unseen, are the proof of a warrior’s journey. A warrior doesn’t live a life without wounds. To fight for something—whether it’s your family, your vision, or the human you know you’re capable of becoming—is to expose yourself to pain. You’ll face resistance… You’ll take blows… You’ll fail, fall, and break…. the truth of it all… scars are not signs of weakness. Scars are signs of strength. Every scar says, I survived. It says, I endured the battle and lived to fight again. It’s a reminder of the price you’ve paid to become the damn warrior you are today. It’s evidence that you’ve dared to stand up, take risks, and fight for something greater than yourself….. …and with each scar comes wisdom… You learn when to strike and when to stand firm. You learn what you’re truly capable of—and what really matters in the end. Scars may humble us, but they also sharpen us like you wouldn’t believe. They prepare us for BIGGER giants to come. Be a pillar of strength and trust where your family feels safe to share everything. Set Boundaries: Safeguard your family from toxic influences by limiting social media, monitoring friendships, eliminating harmful habits. Stay Prepared: Have the ability to be dangerous. Oh n one more thing, put on headphones and crank the tunes while you do… silence the outside noise. The NOISE that tries to tell you what you are cuz it thinks it knows better. The NOISE that says “hey I’m here for you but actually it’s not… at all… it just wants to be associated with your name or brand… for its own agenda… which does NOT incude your growth…. Let this NOISE realize the mistakes IT made when it finds itself paying for a seat in the nose bleeds, while it watches YOU take the stage…. ????
