Should one invest in such a volatile market? Market volatility can be unsettling, especially after two years of stocks marching steadily higher. In a way, enduring the ups and downs is a price of admission to achieve attractive returns the stock market offers over time. Volatility is normal. The hard part is understanding that in the moment and controlling emotions. #financialmanagement #investmenttips

LPL Research provides its Weekly Market Performance for the week of March 10, 2025.?The selloff in U.S. stocks continued this week as markets were unable to find relief from trade and policy uncertainty that has dragged major averages lower. International stocks closed the week mixed, with tariff concerns offsetting positive local developments in both Europe and Asia. Treasury yields ended little changed, while gold surged back toward record highs and oil prices ended the week about where they started https://lnkd.in/gYDnQaZy

Grow Scare Key Takeaways: - Yesterday, Treasury yields declined as investors got nervous about growth, with the 10-year yield temporarily dipping below 4.30%.? Consumer confidence fell in February, creating the catalyst for a decline in yields.? - Recent signs of a downshift in growth led markets to price in two cuts by the Federal Reserve (Fed) in the latter half of this year.? - On the plus side, improving loan demand suggests more capital expenditures. https://lnkd.in/gVb2mmf6

"The LPL Strategic and Tactical Asset Allocation Committee (STAAC) favors core bonds over high-yield credit. Yields for high-yield bonds are hovering around historical averages, with spreads remaining near record lows. Overall, the environment continues to support credit risk. While economic growth is slowing, it's not collapsing, which typically benefits credit. However, credit remains expensive. In our view, valuations for riskier fixed income sectors are still rich compared to core sectors. Despite limited potential for price appreciation, income levels remain attractive as long as inflationary pressures persist." https://lnkd.in/gCeG8eCj

According to LPL research, "A repeat of Trump 1.0 trade dynamics could bring heightened volatility to credit markets, which enter this period with significantly tighter spreads. During the 2018–2019 trade tensions, IG spreads widened 75 basis points from February 2018 cycle tights, while HY spreads expanded 225 basis points in just two months. While markets recovered in early 2019, volatility remained elevated throughout the year. Unlike 2019, when the Fed supported credit markets with rate cuts amid trade tensions, similar policy support appears unlikely given today's elevated inflation environment." https://lnkd.in/gFej69ec
