New program alert! ?????? Applications are now open to be part of Cornell’s inaugural admitted class of Robotics Ph.D. students, who will begin the newly launched doctoral program in fall 2025. The uniquely structured program spans four fields of study, enabling applicants to choose from multiple entry points into the world of robotics – which combines expertise across science and engineering, including mechanism design, modeling, dynamics, control, hardware, actuators, sensing, data science, machine learning, computing and social science.

A new statistical method developed by Dan Kowal, Ph.D. ’17, associate professor of statistics and data science, powers research on health, climate, and financial data. ????

Researchers at Cornell Bowers trained a large language model to identify the monologic voice – used to affirm one’s legitimacy, monologue style – including its collective and individualistic tones, in eight decades’ worth of U.S. Supreme Court opinions.

A plaza dedicated and named in honor of Cornell’s 14th president, Martha E. Pollack, will be part of the new Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science building and complex, connecting it with Gates Hall. The Martha E. Pollack Plaza will be located “at the growing heart” of Cornell Bowers CIS, Kayser said. “It will be traversed by thousands, used every day, and will forever be a reminder of the contributions that [she] made: not just in computer science, but to the entire university.”

All students in Cornell Bowers have ambitious dreams for their future, but some of those dreams take a little extra help to come true. That's where the Dream Grants program comes in. Established by alumni Parag Tole, M.S. ’01, Ph.D. ‘03, and Adam Kravetz ’02, the Dream Grant fund is designed to "help students walk their own paths.
