Dear Network! I'm looking for two research assistants/law students in situ to do some archival work in the Congress of Nicaragua and Honduras. This would contribute to my doctoral research at Cornell University on the decolonial evolution of Latin American criminal codes. Please PM me with any reference. Thank you! Querida red! Gracias!

  • We are very proud of our JSD alumni, Arturo Castellanos Canales, who Cornell Law School recognized with the Alumni Exemplary Public Service Award for his human rights and immigration work.

In Mexico, when an expecting parent receives good news or experiences good luck, we say the baby “trae torta bajo el brazo.” It literally translates as “the baby is coming with a sandwich under her arm.” I have no idea why we say that, but that’s what we say. In my case, it seems like our baby is coming with an extra large sandwich under her arm! ?? This award from Cornell Law School motivates me to continue working in defense of immigration in the United States. Some of us had the privilege of migrating to this country because we wanted to satiate our academic curiosity and pursue our professional goals, while others had no choice but to leave their home countries and seek refuge in the United States. Regardless of why we migrate, all of us are here to contribute to the prosperity of this country. We work in offices, fields, universities, factories, restaurants, and churches. We are here because we have admired the United States’ way of life since we were kids. The immigration prospects for the next years will be challenging, but I will not rest until I see a reform that protects all the immigrants who make the United States a great country. It’s impossible to do it alone, but if you join me in solidarity, I promise I’ll never drop the towel! Thanks a million to the friends and colleagues who nominated me, and I am deeply grateful to the faculty who honored me with this award! And thank you to the National Immigration Forum for providing a platform where I have been able to grow professionally and personally.

  • We are very proud of our graduated JSD Santiago Mollis, who joined Villanova University Law School (2024-2025). Santiago focuses on the intersection of criminal law, criminology, and political theory. His scholarship engages theoretical and practical inquiry into how contemporary societies respond to crimes. https://lnkd.in/ezznja8G
