?? Ahead of the #APACWindEnergySummit, between 26-28 November 2024, we're taking a look at each of the markets in Asia-Pacific where Corio is developing offshore wind projects. Next up, Vietnam ?? Vietnam has a national power plan to reach 6 GW in offshore wind capacity by 2030. Corio has three proposed offshore wind projects totalling 4.5 GW under development in the country. If fully realised, the portfolio of projects is expected to provide enough clean energy for up to 3.6 million homes and help support over 7,000 jobs. The Northern Binh Thuan offshore wind farm could be the first gigawatt-scale offshore wind farm in Binh Thuan province. The project of up to 3 GW was first proposed in 2019 and, since then, Corio has been actively engaging with the provincial authority and relevant central Vietnamese Government ministries and agencies. In March 2024, Corio signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a leading supplier of electricity to the Vietnamese power market: Vietnam Electricity (EVN) subsidiary Power Generation Corporation 3. EVN is Vietnam's largest state-owned power company. Find out more about Corio's presence in Vietnam: https://lnkd.in/eBtpQ_Ns #offshorewind #windenergy #GWECAsia #ActioninAPAC

??? The Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) is a future-focused coalition of governments and leading companies, who share the same high ambition and clear determination for accelerating offshore wind deployment in the energy mix. At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Corio’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Will Henley, spoke at a specially convened GOWA Ministerial Dialogue hosted at the Global Renewables Hub. “GOWA’s ambition is to achieve at least 380 GW? of offshore wind power globally by 2030. This target can be achieved by industry and the public sector working closely together to help reduce the cost of capital, expand sources of finance and de-risk projects by addressing bottlenecks in permitting, grids and the supply chain,” he says. GOWA was first launched two years ago at COP27 by the Government of Denmark, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). The alliance now comprises some 30 members including national governments and sub-national governments. With national delegations at COP29 working on updating and upgrading their national climate plans – known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCS) – attention is firmly focused on how offshore wind can provide a pathway to decarbonisation. This was the perfect time for GOWA to bring together governments to exchange views on the way forward. We were delighted to hear from leading ministers such as Ireland’s Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Eamon Ryan, Colombia’s Minister of Mines and Energy Omar Andrés Camacho Morales and Belgium’s Minister of Energy Tinne Van der Straeten among many others. A new NDC Guidance Tool - supported and endorsed by GOWA - was also launched by Ocean Conservancy during COP29. Thank you to the whole GOWA team including GWEC CEO Ben Backwell, Deputy CEO Rebecca Williams, GOWA Interim Head of Secretariat Amisha Patel, IRENA Team lead Simon Benmarraze, and Danish Energy Agency Denmark Director General Kristoffer B?ttzauw. #GOWA #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy #ClimateAction #EnergyTransition #3xRE #ClimateChangeMitigation #COP29
