??♂? Meet Thomas Powell, a proud member of #TeamCCGF running the 2025 Boston Marathon in support of #CoreysKids! Thomas is no stranger to endurance challenges. He finished the 2024 Chicago Marathon and played college lacrosse at Saint Anselm College. Now, he is taking on Boston with a mission: to raise awareness and support for Boston’s youth. Inspired by stories like those of Oriana and Jahzare, 2025 Youth Courage Award Recipients, Thomas believes that every child deserves opportunity and is honored to run for the Corey C. Griffin Foundation. Thomas follows a strict weekly schedule with speed work, long runs with the Heartbreak Hill Team, and strength training to prepare for race day. Off the course, Thomas works in asset and wealth management at Corient, bringing skills like time management, relationship building, and attention to detail to everything he does. Fundraising with Team CCGF for the Boston Marathon has been one of the most rewarding, challenging, and exciting experiences. This past month I organized two fundraising events, raising over $2,500 for Corey's Kids: a workout class with local Boston business, MyStryde, and a fundraiser at the South Boston bar, the Clock Tavern. I couldn't be more thankful for the support I've received from friends and family, the Corey C. Griffin Foundation, the running community in Boston (and beyond), and the many South Boston businesses who graciously donated hundreds of dollars in prizes for the bar fundraiser raffle. Working two jobs while fundraising and training has not been easy, but I couldn't do it without the support and love from everyone in my life. WE ARE 45 DAYS FROM MARATHON MONDAY! Nico D. Schactman is taking on the Boston Marathon as part of #TeamCCGF ??♂? Combining his passion for athletics with his dedication to supporting Boston’s youth, he is preparing to run for a purpose! A sophomore student-athlete at Tufts University, Nico has an impressive background in endurance sports, from competing in a half Ironman to biking 2,769 miles across the country. His commitment to empowering young people runs just as deep. As a Teaching Assistant with Aim High, Nico has worked closely with students from high-risk environments, helping to create more personalized and supportive learning experiences. Now, he is carrying that same passion to the marathon course, running to raise awareness and funds for Corey’s Kids through the Corey C. Griffin Foundation. With a 20-week training plan that includes long runs, tempo workouts, and speed training, Nico is preparing to take on the 26.2-mile challenge in April. His determination and work ethic will undoubtedly serve him well on race day. It’s hard to put into words the support I’ve felt throughout my pursuit of running the Boston Marathon and with your help, we’ve reached our goal of raising $10,000 for The Corey C. Griffin Foundation benefiting youth in the Boston area. Born and raised in Boston, Eddy is a former Division 1 football player who has turned his love of sports and competition into a way to give back to his community. His passion for helping others aligns perfectly with the mission of the Corey C. Griffin Foundation. Having been involved with several of the Foundation’s programs including being a member of the Emerging Leaders Council, he has seen firsthand the incredible impact it has on providing access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for Boston’s youth. His dedication to continuing Corey's legacy and belief in the power of community drives him to make a difference. For Eddy, taking on the Boston Marathon isn’t just about crossing the finish line; it’s about raising awareness and support for the kids who will benefit from the Foundation’s life-changing programs. I was given a gift by a good friend in my mid 20's, that I intend to give to every person I meet as we build our company. It's actually the gift that has foundationally impacted why I started the company. His name was Corey Griffin. He had an impact on thousands while he was with us. And although I can't text or call him or send him Dice Clay jokes like I used to - like many I've lost, he's present with me daily. And - his legacy of impact will be felt by millions through the Corey C. Griffin Foundation. So what was the gift? We were having lunch on the 43rd floor of the John Hancock Tower in Boston. Corey was talking me out of an incredibly lucrative IC Sales job and educating this central mass meat head on ownership vs employment. It worked, changed my life, and Ill forever be grateful for him for that. But something he said in passing during that lunch has sat in the back of my head for 13 years. Its a simple concept - that if everybody bought into - the world would improve exponentially: Learn. Earn. Return. Learn - Early in your career - focus on acquiring knowledge, skills, and experience and invest heavily in your development over everything else. Earn - Once you become an expert - apply your knowledge and find opportunities to create as much value as possible. Return - Once you've achieved "success" - focus on giving back. Through mentorship, philanthropy, and investing in others and society. It's exactly what we are building here at our company. Folks who dedicated their life to a uniform, athletically or through service, have a place to come where they can: Learn and practice new skills and concepts that make them more marketable. Earn the opportunity to meet with companies who value their experience in uniform along with their dedication to continuous improvement. And return, by engaging with the folks in our platform that are still in the learn and earn phase of their own journeys. In venture they talk about the concept of a flywheel for growth - leveraging momentum for compounding results. We are creating a flywheel for the growth of more people who understand the above concept - and that, more than anything, will be how we change the world.
