2024 was a truly incredible year at Artisan. We went from 0 -> 1 I wanted to take a second to reflect on what happened - here's the breakdown: January - We launched the beta of Artisan. It barely worked and looked like a children's game, but it was the beginning of something great - We started the Y Combinator W24 batch - I got my O-1 Visa, moved to SF and got all of my belongings stolen on day 1 (which I later recovered)! - We moved into our first office February - We were featured by the BBC as leading the shift towards "digital colleagues" -Our waitlist grew to 1000s of people through rage baiting on Reddit March - We had 2nd highest monthly web traffic in our YC batch - Tina Sang joined the team! April - We raised the biggest Seed round in our YC batch on an uncapped 20% discount SAFE - We launched V2 of our platform, maturing us to a “real” company - YC ended and we co-hosted the end of batch event May - I spoke at the GenAI Summit about the future of AI - We launched a new version of our website June - We introduced dozens of new data sources for our AI BDR Ava - We launched publicly with a new sales-led model, revenue started growing - HubSpot invested in Artisan Our first sales hire started July - We introduced a new execution system, centered around quarterly strategies across all functions - 2 people joined our AI team - We went through a rebrand - We got our first billboard August - We launched a major update to email quality, making Ava’s AI-generated emails the best on market by a strong margin September - Revenue started growing FAST - We shipped local business data and e-commerce data to supplement our standard B2B data offering October - We sponsored TechCrunch Disrupt - We shipped our “Magic Campaigns” feature, which allows Ava to thoroughly research your company and come up with your outbound messaging - We closed $1M of ARR in 1 month November - We launched our Stop Hiring Humans campaign - Our brand awareness started to take off - Our team grew to over 30 people - Our customer success team grew to 5 people December - We went viral and were features in dozens of news outlets like CBS and Fox - We saw an insane amount of inbound lead flow - I got 1000s of death threats - We kicked off engineering for Ava V4 - Some other currently confidential things happened. And 2025, we like where this is headed… Thrilled to read we are a Forbes Top Four Startup Shaping 2025 And just before that: We closed an oversubscribed Seed round led by Failup Ventures and Uber. We were awarded curbside for The City of Boston. We announced our next cities; LA, SF, Alameda, Jersey City, Yonkers, and Detroit (with more coming). We won The Keeling Curve Prize and were awarded grant funding from the Earthshot Prize; from Uptake Alliance and NYSERDA; and from Michigan Central's Scale Fund. We were named Emerging Company of the Year by ACT | The Alliance for Climate Transition. We were recognized as a Inc. Magazine Best In Business winner; and Tiya Gordon was given the Inaugural Fin-Erth 100 Women in Climate Award. Our leadership hit 80% women (and went warp speed 9) when we brought in our newest Director Iben Falconer and welcomed (um, rockstar) Stephanie Hannon to our Board. We certified our hardware and are the only certified detachable cable solution in North America. Davos > Dervos! We were invited to present our work and panel across the globe including at Aspen Energy Week, MIT Mobility Initiative Vision Day, Verge, Newlab Pilot Showcase, Dervos, and at the annual meetings for The Urban Land Institute and The World Economic Forum in Davos. In the news! We got the story of what we are building out there and were covered by Forbes, Fortune, WSJ, Fast Company, Inc, Motortrend, Designboom, MSN, Business Insider, The NY Post, Canary Media, Techbrew, and last but not least David Roberts, Volts! Sea to shining sea!? We announced our partnership with the Trust for Governors Island and partnered with Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) to deploy chargers across Los Angeles’ Zero Emisssions Delivery Zone. Action into law! Our Equitable EV charging Act was signed into law! Thanks to this new law, municipalities throughout California will start planning for #curbsidecharging. We enshrined the work of the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation And kicked off our $1.5M Ride & Drive grant;? 4 Cities, 60 Chargers, 80 EVSE Technicians, and hundreds of drivers.
