If you're looking for something to stream over the holiday or while you travel, download episodes from the Building Knowledge Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Amazon Music. American Education Week presents an excellent opportunity to celebrate education while honoring the teachers who make a difference in every student's learning. Our mission to advance educational equity is best represented by the Core Knowledge Sequence, which identifies and describes the specific core of shared knowledge that all children should learn. The Sequence is intended to help children establish strong foundations of knowledge grade-by-grade from preschool through grade eight. We would not be able to pursue our mission without our amazing roster of Core Knowledge schools, educators, and administrators. Thank you, this week and every week! #americaneducationweek

Web-based, teacher-driven games and assessments have arrived at Core Knowledge. We call them Digital Engagements. A Digital Engagement is an option pause in the lesson flow, in which the entire class participates in game-like scenarios. Individuals or class groups compete in answering questions based on the content of the lessons just completed. Each Digital Engagement takes about 15-20 minutes of class time. Elections are a vital part of our democratic system, and it is part of the Core Knowledge mission to prepare students to participate in that system. We do that through the Pathway to Citizenship, a thread that runs through the Core Knowledge History & Geography (CKHG) units in Grades 3-6, the Civics in Action found in the middle school U.S. History volumes, and CKHG supplemental civics units for K - Grade 8. https://lnkd.in/eeyg77sJ

It’s our goal to make Core Knowledge curriculum materials accessible to as many students as possible. The Core Knowledge Foundation is pleased to offer a range of Core Knowledge History and Geography (CKHG) titles in Spanish for free download. View the CKHG titles available in Spanish for each grade level. English translations of each Spanish title are included in parentheses. https://lnkd.in/eJvSwuQm

The Core Knowledge CKLA Curriculum for middle school (grades 6-8) was constructed to develop reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills while simultaneously building content knowledge. This approach offers a powerful framework to embed literacy skills seamlessly into middle school instruction. https://lnkd.in/es-rai8a
