The mission of the Core Knowledge Foundation is to advance excellence and equity in education for all children. One of our endeavors is to shrink the fairness gap between the academic achievement of American students living in poverty and that of their economically advantaged peers. https://lnkd.in/e6AyG3_r

If you're looking for something to stream over the holiday or while you travel, download episodes from the Building Knowledge Podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Amazon Music. We created the Building Knowledge podcast to dig deeper into a range of topics within the umbrella of the Core Knowledge approach in order to support educators, school leadership, and other faculty, as well as parents of children learning through the Core Knowledge Sequence or curriculum. https://lnkd.in/eicUD7H2

American Education Week presents an excellent opportunity to celebrate education while honoring the teachers who make a difference in every student's learning. Our mission to advance educational equity is best represented by the Core Knowledge Sequence, which identifies and describes the specific core of shared knowledge that all children should learn. The Sequence is intended to help children establish strong foundations of knowledge grade-by-grade from preschool through grade eight. We would not be able to pursue our mission without our amazing roster of Core Knowledge schools, educators, and administrators. Thank you, this week and every week! #americaneducationweek

Web-based, teacher-driven games and assessments have arrived at Core Knowledge. We call them Digital Engagements. A Digital Engagement is an option pause in the lesson flow, in which the entire class participates in game-like scenarios. Individuals or class groups compete in answering questions based on the content of the lessons just completed. Each Digital Engagement takes about 15-20 minutes of class time. Elections are a vital part of our democratic system, and it is part of the Core Knowledge mission to prepare students to participate in that system. We do that through the Pathway to Citizenship, a thread that runs through the Core Knowledge History & Geography (CKHG) units in Grades 3-6, the Civics in Action found in the middle school U.S. History volumes, and CKHG supplemental civics units for K - Grade 8. https://lnkd.in/eeyg77sJ
