The recent cuts to USAID funding have triggered a devastating ripple effect on polio eradication efforts, particularly in vulnerable regions such as Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, and several countries across Africa and South Asia. Communities that once had access to life-saving vaccines are now left exposed, increasing the risk of outbreaks and erasing decades of progress. Communities that once had access to life-saving vaccines are now left exposed, increasing the risk of outbreaks and erasing decades of progress. Here’s what these funding cuts have caused: ? ?????????????????????? ?????????? ???????? ???????? — Health facilities that once provided polio vaccines have closed, leaving children in remote and underserved areas unprotected. ? ?????????? ?????????????????? ?????? ???????????????????????? ???????????? — Without resources, the ability to detect, respond to, and control polio outbreaks has significantly weakened. The virus is now spreading without being tracked. ? ??????????-???????????? ???????????????????????? ?????????????????? — Critical vaccination efforts along borders — especially in Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Uganda — have ceased, allowing polio to move freely across regions. ? ???????????? ?????????????? ???????????? ?????????????????? — Healthcare centers now lack vaccines, cold storage, and transportation support, paralyzing immunization campaigns. ? ???????????????????? ?????????? ???????????????????? — Major funding cuts have resulted in the loss of healthcare workers, significantly limiting outreach efforts and access to vaccines. ? ???????????????? ?????????????????????? — Humanitarian crises and population displacements, especially in conflict-affected areas, have made it nearly impossible to reach children in need of vaccinations — heightening the risk of polio outbreaks. Take a look at this Devex article that highlights the devastating impact of USAID funding cuts on global nutrition programs — placing nearly 21 million people, including 11 million children, at immediate risk of severe malnutrition. CORE Group member Helen Keller Intl International is among the organizations directly affected. According to Shawn Baker, Chief Program Officer, staff were recently terminated, but their biggest concern wasn’t their jobs — “?????????? ?????????? ???????????????? ???????? ?????? ???????? ?????? ???????? ?????? ???????????????? ?????? ?????????? ?????? ???? ????????????.” Millions of people have been left without access to life-saving nutrition programs as operations come to a halt. The production of ??????????-????-?????? ?????????????????????? ???????? In over 30 countries, health services have been significantly impacted, limiting essential care for vulnerable children and families. ?? ???????? ?????? ???????? ?????????? ?????????????? ????????: https://lnkd.in/e72AHdtm

For decades, foreign aid has been a lifeline, ensuring millions of children receive lifesaving vaccines. Through the CORE Group Partners Project (CGPP), we have reached over 27.8 million children with #poliovaccines. But now, with foreign aid freezes and funding cuts, we are witnessing a devastating reversal. The impact is immediate and alarming: ? Disruptions in polio vaccination campaigns ? Lost progress in tracking and reaching zero-dose children ? Increased outbreaks in vulnerable communities Polio does not wait. Every missed vaccine leaves a child at risk. Without urgent action, we risk undoing decades of progress in disease eradication and global health security. We cannot let this happen. We must prioritize sustained support for immunization programs to protect children everywhere. In partnership with Nigeria's National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (??????) has taken a bold step to combat TB by educating and screening over 400,000 youth across the country. This initiative not only raises awareness but also promotes early detection and treatment — a critical approach to ending TB. Sustained prevention and treatment efforts are essential to saving lives.
