Corboy & Demetrio Partner Michelle Kohut, as Chair of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association Women’s Caucus, was proud to attend the recent Excellence in Bleu’s Women in Power Awards. Congratulations to all the Award Recipients, including, Carole Moseley Braun, the first Black female U.S. Senator, the first female senator from Illinois, and a former U.S. Ambassador.  Other honorees included Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, Illinois Supreme Court Justice Joy Cunningham, Comptroller Susana A. Mendoza, State Representative Kelly Cassidy, Cook Co. State’s Attorney Eileen O'Neill Burke, Alderwoman Pat Dowell, Chicago Sky Co-Owner Nadia Rawlinson, and America Scores Executive Director Kimberly Townsend. The 2nd annual awards were hosted by IL House Speaker Emanuel 'Chris' Welch, a co-founder of Black Excellence in Bleu.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! In true tradition, Corboy & Demetrio celebrated with the CELTIC LEGAL SOCIETY OF CHICAGO, which drew several hundred attorneys and judges to its annual luncheon, and with The Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band performing. Congrats to Cook Co. Circuit Judges, Hon. Jeanne M. Wrenn, who became President of the Society, and to Hon. Patricia O’Brien Sheahan who received the 2025 Celt of the Year Award. On this day 16 years ago, Loyola University Chicago School of Law renamed its law school building the Philip H. Corboy Law Center after Corboy & Demetrio’s Co-founder, Philip H. Corboy. The renaming, with a formal ceremony that took place on March 11, 2009, was in recognition of the largest single gift ever made to the law school by the late Mr. Corboy and his wife Mary Dempsey.
