关于我们

Coralus collectively practices different ways of doing things for a better now and a new inheritance. Members offer and access resources at their own pace, creating a self-regenerating pay-it-forward pool of skills, connections, funds, and support then used to advance ventures and the collective doing world changing work. Coralus has circulated nearly $16.5M to 170+ women- and nonbinary-led ventures by distributing capital via collective decision-making. 45% of those founders are from chronically excluded racial and ethnic groups. The payback rate on its unsecured 0% interest loans is 95%. Founded in Canada in 2015, Coralus' current footprint includes the US, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

This week, we’re opening space for a vibrant patchwork of voices from our community to come together, reflecting on the state of the world and what’s calling to us now. Against the backdrop of the US election and the Māori hikoi to New Zealand’s capital in protest of the Treaty Principles Bill, a clear and resonant message is emerging: the time is now to come together, to hold each other, and to move forward collectively. Does business school teach about the power of community today? Ten years ago, when I was in school, it wasn’t part of the curriculum. Now, after a decade in management and three years as a business owner, I've realized how vital community and partnerships are for running a successful business. My perspective shifted in 2021 when I connected with HXOUSE , a space filled with like-minded creatives who shared my background, age, and mission. That experience was transformative. Over the years, I've joined numerous communities that have genuinely contributed to my growth as a business owner. It’s a cycle of mutual support – we pour into them, and they pour into us. This picture represents a new yet familiar community with Foodpreneur Lab and Coralus . Many of the women in this group have crossed my path before, but this cohort has deepened our connections. It’s crucial to understand that when building or scaling your business, the right community isn’t just a support system – it’s a foundation. These women aren't competition; they're partners. When one of us wins, we all win. If they need something we have, it’s theirs, and vice versa. We need to stop seeing each other as rivals and start embracing the idea that our community thrives together. A special shoutout to Lorraine Telesford for steershiping this program week by week. And the biggest thank you to Janice Bartley for being a force of nature (and for inviting me to apply). #business #community #coralus #toronto

This week our Coralus team had the opportunity to visit Gotcare offices in Toronto, where Rechie Valdez, Minister of Small Business, together with MP Julie Dzerowicz, celebrated the Government of Canada’s 2023-2025 $2M investment in Coralus. We’re beyond grateful for all the efforts that enable our community to support women and non-binary entrepreneurs. Thank you also to Mary's Brigadeiro Handcrafted Chocolate and Made with Local for the treats! ?

I love it when people have words that literally pull my/our worldview and practice into a concise narrative. This is so resonant Manda Scott - in the spirit of finding the others i'm coming your way :-) "It occurs to me that we are now at an inflection point in the WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrial, Rich and - notionally - Democratic) culture that has been so successful in destroying the ecosphere.?A significant number of us now see what has been obvious to a minority for some time: that the system is not broken - it is doing what it was always designed to do: which is to maintain power in the hands of a few white men.?What we know now, is that the system is not fit for purpose - IF that purpose is the survival of complex life on this planet, if it is the flourishing of the human and More-than-Human worlds in an indivisible web of life.?We need a new system - and this realisation has landed not with the people who solve their problems with violent insurrection (see Jan 6th 2021) but with people whose primary driving aim is to find ways to connect and consiliate, to create coherence with compassion, to find courage and confidence and creative curiosity.?And so this is our goal now - there is no point waiting for the side we favour to win in a broken system.? We need a whole new system predicated on new and better values.? We need to find our connectedness.? At a bone-deep level, in the core of our tissues and the vast expanses of our individual and collective awareness, we need to remember our place in the Web of Life and work only from this.? We need to start building something entirely different that does not rely on the structures of the broken system, even as it crumbles (or is dismantled) around us.? This is our challenge.?Facing it will require everything we've got, but the old system is a self-terminating algorithm and we can all see the route to chaos and extinction now.?If we're going to pull through and find that flourishing world we can bequeath with pride to future generations, nothing else matters now.? Nothing.?Find what's yours to do and do with all your heart.?Build imaginal islands with friends, colleagues and co-evolutionaries of the human and More than Human world.?Build narratives based on the heart-focused values that are our birth-right. Above all else, do whatever you can to connect to the More than Human world?- to the Web of Life?in all its awe-inspiring wonder, its majesty and beauty?- and ask 'What do you want of me?'? Listen to the answer, however it comes. And then do it." Danielle Macleod (she/her) TY for the find.... https://lnkd.in/gq3TmHd6

Tēnā Koutou Katoa Dear Coralus community in Aotearoa (and beyond), In response to the Māori hikoi (march) to New Zealand’s capital to protest the Treaty Principles Bill, we want to make it clear that Coralus stands in full support of the Māori people being and their unwavering pursuit of justice, recognition, and sovereignty. The spirit and courage shown by Māori communities in advocating for their rights, culture, and Treaty partnership reflect a powerful model of resilience and unity that resonates deeply with our values. The Treaty of Waitangi, a foundational document, promises partnership and shared stewardship between the Crown and Māori. It is an insult to the Māori partner that the first real opportunity to have input into the Treaty Principles Bill is during a select committee process. We stand in solidarity with Māori calling for the Prime Minister to abandon this Bill. The current situation underlines the ongoing need for systemic change to honor that promise fully. Coralus recognizes that Indigenous communities worldwide face similar struggles for sovereignty, self-determination, and fair treatment within political and economic systems that often marginalize their voices. This movement in Aotearoa is part of a much larger global call to honor the land, heritage, and rights of Indigenous people everywhere. We have been building relationships in Aotearoa with our Māori siblings over the past 8 years, witnessing the countries embrace of Indigenous worldview and values. As an organization committed to reimagining systems and championing equity, Coralus stands in solidarity with the Māori and all Indigenous peoples. We believe that inclusive, regenerative approaches to governance and decision-making are the path forward, where Indigenous voices lead and are heard. Kia kaha – stay strong. https://lnkd.in/guG6e7eT
