As Oregon's biggest venue for annual foot traffic, Brittany Saulsbury + Portland Trail Blazers @ the Rose Quarter team are doing an awesome job and put on a great Green Game last night!
Sustainability Operations Manager at Portland Trail Blazers, LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, Fitwel Ambassador
???? Green Game is back! ???? Tonight, the Portland Trail Blazers @ the Rose Quarter host our annual Green Game—a night dedicated to celebrating sustainability and inspiring action! I’m proud of the work we’ve done to embed environmental responsibility into everything we do, and this game is a special opportunity to bring our fans along for the journey. Here are a few things I’m especially excited for fans to experience tonight: ?? Rip City Reuse in Action – Our award-winning reusable cup program continues to grow, keeping thousands of single-use cups out of the waste stream every game. ?? Spotlight on Waste Reduction – From our waste hauling partner COR Disposal & Recycling’s electric garbage truck on the Commons, to our jersey exchange promo, Intuitive AI Oscar recycling assistants, and a striking display showcasing the impact of Rip City Reuse, we’re making waste reduction both visible and engaging for fans. ?? E-Waste Drive – We’re partnering with Free Geek to encourage fans to bring old small electronics for donation before the game. ?? Community & Education – We’re highlighting local organizations like The Blueprint Foundation, Lloyd EcoDistrict, and Energy Trust of Oregon, sharing ways fans can make a difference beyond game night. OSU’s expertise + innovation horsepower is plugged into the COR Campus project! Together, we’re building our region’s circular economy with the goal of taking 1M tons of waste & turning it into 10K green jobs. Among many exciting projects includes using hemp and recycled wood & plastics to create the more sustainable building materials & products. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Jeffrey Steiner, Skip Rochefort, John Parmigiani, Lech Muszynski and so many others Oregon State University!
Everything but the squeal. 'An idiom meaning to utilize every part of something, leaving nothing wasted, often used in reference to animals, particularly pigs, where almost every part can be used for food or other products.' The best way to start is to begin with standing up a no-waste system for hemp production - from gene-to-plant-to-field-to-factory. Yesterday, Skip Rochefort, Global Hemp Innovation Center (GHIC) consortium lead for Harvest, Handling & Materials Processing, met up with John Parmigiani (top) in the College of Engineering – Oregon State University's School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering and Bill Kent, Director of Grown at City of Roses Disposal & Recycling (CoR), to discuss ways GHIC and CoR could link up to find uses for municipal solid wastes and hemp byproducts streams. Combining MSW with processed hemp byproducts could pencil-out to have economic benefits and industrial potential for replacing traditional plastics. With the right waste sorting, processing technologies, and infrastructure, such an approach could reduce landfill waste, lower carbon footprints, create cost-effective biodegradable alternatives, support a circular economy, and expand applications in packaging, construction, and automotive industries—ultimately accelerating the shift toward greater adoption of biobased materials. More discussions will follow - this was our second meeting - but bringing together both rural and urban resources and capacities could be a real plus for Pacific Northwest region economy.

Hear COO AJ Simpson talk about COR’s operation in this video by our friends at SSI! We couldn’t achieve the waste recovery rates we do without SSI Shredding Systems, Inc. amazing technology. It’s been a great partnership that we expect to grow.
Very happy to be able to help share the story of City of Roses Recycling line.

Check out how pineapple can become a sustainable fabric
LinkedIn Top Green Voice | The Circular Economist | Helping you make less ??? more ?? | Keynote speaker
50% of all the pineapples end up wasted ?? Pi?atex is a brilliant solution to fix this: Instead of trashing millions of tons of pineapple scraps, this biomass is turned into a sustainable fabric! This makes it a great and circular alternative to more "linear" materials, like leather, or plastics. And big fashion brands are jumping on board. The results? ? farmers have a new revenue stream ? millions of biomass diverted from landfills ? more eco-friendly fashion alternatives That's the future I love to see! PS.: Are you used to saying "ananas" instead? ?? ??Hit follow to learn more.? ? Repost to share the good news!

Have you noticed plastic bags are thicker? It’s not an accident, it’s an unfortunate loophole that needs to get closed. https://lnkd.in/gcNnnNFb
