?? BIG NEWS from Copper Cow Coffee! ?? Copper Cow Coffee has launched the first-ever Certified Organic Vietnamese coffee on our site + on Erewhon shelves! ?? Debbie Mullin founded Copper Cow Coffee with a dream to build better economic opportunities for Vietnamese coffee farmers while bringing delicious, sustainably-sourced robusta beans to the US. Today we’re beyond thrilled to announce that, after years of hard work, financial investment, and patience...Debbie's dream has come true! ?? Why Is This So Groundbreaking? ?? Vietnam is the world’s 2nd largest coffee producer, but it's been left out of the conversation of premium coffee and sustainability. As a company that sources beans from Vietnam, we were curious how we could change that. In 2022 we did a study on how we could make our product line more sustainable (reduce our carbon footprint, reduce product waste, reduce environmental impact). We were astounded to learn that the biggest impact we could make would be at the farm level, improving soil health and getting our farm partners certified organic. ?? The Road to Organic Certification ?? Our path was set. We immediately invested $100k in our organic pilot program, designed to help farmers in Vietnam convert their farms to organic growing practices. As a result, the farms went from small bushes with cracked, barren soil to full-on biodiverse forests where the land was overflowing with all kinds of vegetation and life! Coffee yields had actually improved, proving that organic farming benefits both people and the planet. Fun fact about robusta beans: they are actually naturally climate-resilient (and pest-resilient because of their high caffeine content!) and well-suited for organic growing. ?? The Payoff ?? We’re thrilled to announce that our farms have received their USDA Organic certification, and that you can try our organic-certified beans by ordering on our website- or, if you're an LA-local, we have 2 organic SKUs available at Erewhon! As an LA-based brand, we're quite proud to have our organic beans sold in our backyard ??
