  • Earlier this month, our Copeland Scholars juniors embarked on a journey to Washington, D.C. ? Day 1: Exploring the Nation’s Capital Thursday excitedly started as we got an exclusive tour of the White House and explored the city’s monuments and different pockets of D.C. ? Day 2: Professional Insights and Networking Friday was packed with learning and networking. Our visit to PwC was a highlight, where?Marc Filer, CPA, ABV, CFF, CFE, MBA,?led us on an insightful tour and shared the vast array of opportunities the company provides with a panel of early-career professionals. Next, we visited the Department of Veterans Affairs, where?Howard Manuel?gave us a behind-the-scenes look at government careers and shared his experiences working on Capitol Hill. We got to talk with people in public relations and congressional affairs to learn about the different nuances of communication. Later in the evening, we hosted an alumni networking event at the National Press Club, where accomplished Bobcats?Monique McDonough, Robert Walter, Marc Filer, and Howard Manuel?shared invaluable insights and advice with our scholars.? ? Day 3: History and Heading Home We wrapped up our trip on Saturday with a visit to the National Museum of African American History and Culture before heading home! ? Thank you to our sophomore VP of Impact,?Kasielle Carroll, for organizing this trip and our sophomore representative, Maggie MacLaughlin,?for your support on logistics! It speaks volumes of you both as leaders to organize a trip for another cohort of students. Also, a huge thanks to our faculty directors, Dr. Shea Burden, CPA, CMA, IRC, MBA., and Jessica Babin Weeks, for your support in making this possible. Finally, thank you to?Rhonda Curry?for your support in bringing our alum event to life. We learned so much and are grateful to our notable Bobcat alums!?
