Ireland is implementing an SMS Sender ID Registry to combat text message scams, which caused €300 million in harm and affected 365,000 people in 2022. The registry, announced by ComReg in April 2024, will create a secure database of legitimate business SMS senders (Application-to-Person messaging). From February 2025, SMS providers can pre-register business customers' Sender IDs. By July 2025, unregistered Sender IDs will be labeled "Likely Scam," and from October 2025, messages from unregistered IDs will be blocked completely. National Enterprise Hub Launched to Support Irish Businesses Have you checked out the National Enterprise Hub https://www.neh.gov.ie/? A one-stop shop designed to help businesses access government supports more efficiently. The Hub consolidates information on over 180 supports from 19 government departments and state agencies, providing a single point of contact for grants, funding, loans, and expert advice. It is staffed by trained advisors and can be accessed online at www.neh.gov.ie, by phone at (01) 727 2100, or via live chat. This service is free and aims to help businesses of all sizes, particularly SMEs, navigate the wide range of government supports available. “Running a business isn’t easy, but accessing government supports should be,” said Conor O’Donovan, Head of the National Enterprise Hub. Research shows that many small businesses face challenges such as rising costs, difficulty attracting and retaining talent, and a lack of time to focus on long-term growth.
