Rural problems require rural solutions. Volunteer fire departments are responsible for the majority of first responder services in our territory. While state and local taxes provide some funding for these departments, many have few pathways to raise the difference between government funding provisions and what they really needed to provide the training and services Coosa Valley residents need. Enter CVEC's Firemen's Friend Fund: an easy way for our members to support the VFDs that saves their lives. https://lnkd.in/efRzWUui

Our marketing and member services departments learned plenty about member interactions and energy efficiency from Eddie McKnight. The knowledge gained today will help our team answer members' questions, especially regarding high bills and energy conservation, better in the coming months. We thank PowerSouth Energy Cooperative for connecting us with this valuable training!

This afternoon leadership from Coosa Valley Technologies and Coosa Valley Electric Cooperative met with CVEC outside personnel to discuss the potential impacts of winter weather on both the power and fiber grid. Conversations like these ensure all first responders communicate well with each other and understand response plans in case outages — both electric and internet — grow numerous. We believe these discussions sharpen our response, ensure everyone thinks about safety and lead to shorter outages for all of our consumers.

We were honored to attend the Munford Veterans Park dedication on Monday, Veterans Day. With help from CoBank's Sharing Success program, we contributed $5,000 to the park's creation in its beginning stages. Monuments at the park are etched with all known veterans from the Munford area, and plenty of space remains to etch the names of future vets. General Manager Jonathan Cullimore, a U.S. Army veteran, spoke on our behalf. We were proud to help a small town honor the contributions of its veterans!

A cooperative's annual meeting is a great time for reflection on past events while informing the membership of what the future potentially brings. For our 85th annual meeting, growth was at the forefront of discussion. https://lnkd.in/ejwQWaPX

While our broadband subsidiary, Coosa Valley Technologies, operates in a competitive space, it stays committed to cooperative values like Concern for Community. Check out this unique idea that ensures their customers stay well-informed about the broadband market.
#TBT to three weeks ago when we were able to unveil our mini-cereal boxes at our highly successful "No Tricks, Just Treats" trunk-or-treat event. Our mini-cereal boxes help us promote awareness about the Federal Communications Commissions' required broadband nutrition labels. These labels promote transparency in the broadband marketplace, making sure all internet consumers understand what they're purchasing when signing up for internet. The labels require broadband providers to provide information regarding introductory pricing, contracts, typical upload and download speeds and more about each Internet package they offer. We use our mini-cereal boxes as a way to provide labels for all three speed packages we offer. We stuffed many of the boxes with copies of each label along with a few small giveaway items. The boxes also attracted attendees to a table where a larger version of each broadband label could be viewed. Community members took more than half of the 104 boxes we made for this event alone! We look forward to using these boxes at future events and promoting more information that benefits our community.

We're proud to share the results of a member satisfaction survey that ended in May. We thank all of our members for trusting us with their service and all our employees who made these scores possible! https://lnkd.in/gVQ9dU7n
