Always great insights during Coffee With Coopsys webinars.
Last week, during Coffee With Coopsys monthly webinar, an attendee asked me about the value of a full-time CISO versus a fractional one. Here’s what I think: ? A full-time CISO provides continuous oversight of all cybersecurity measures within a business. This includes ongoing monitoring of security practices, the development and regular updating of security policies, and hands-on management of the company’s cybersecurity infrastructure and team. Having an in-house, full-time CISO ensures immediate response, deep security expertise, and consistency. However, it also comes with high costs, resource limitations, and potentially restricted thinking. ? A fractional CISO, on the other hand, serves on a part-time basis, offering expert cybersecurity guidance and strategy development without the commitment of a full-time position. This role typically involves regular assessments, strategic planning sessions, and oversight of critical cybersecurity initiatives. The benefits include cost-effectiveness, specialized expertise, and scalability. However, the downsides are limited availability and less familiarity with specific business operations. ? So, what’s best for your business? The answer depends. It hinges on the scale of your IT infrastructure, whether your business operates in a highly regulated industry, and the maturity level of your cybersecurity program. ? You must evaluate your business’s unique situation to determine the best cybersecurity leadership approach. Making the right choice will not only protect your assets but also drive sustainable growth.

Last week our Founder & CEO, Bob D., had the opportunity to connect with students from Bulkeley High School, where he serves as co-chair for the Industry Advisory Board for the Computer Science Pathway of the school through ReadyCT. Bob volunteered to be an interviewer for mock interviews to help the students get exposure on how to interview for a job. He had great connections with very bright students!?

Secure World 2025 ?? Members of our team had the opportunity to attend SecureWorld Boston 2025, one of the most anticipated cybersecurity conferences. The event was packed with insightful keynotes, including "Cybercrime: Protecting Vulnerable Communities in New England," a panel discussion featuring CISOs from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, and "You Are Not a CISO, You Are a 'CO IS'" by Dr. Eric Cole. It was an incredible experience to connect with industry leaders and stay ahead of the latest cybersecurity trends! #SecureWorld #CyberSecurity #Networking
