New Episode of TimTalk! More than 20 years ago, Timothy DenHerder-Thomas saw a major problem—big utilities controlled energy, leaving communities without a say or a share in the benefits. That’s why he founded Cooperative Energy Futures, a co-op that helps everyday people own clean energy, earn from it, and save money on their utility bills every month. In this episode, Tim breaks down why community-owned energy is the future and how YOU can be a part of it! #TimTalk #CommunitySolar #OwnYourPower #CleanEnergyForAll

We empower communities across Minnesota to build energy democracy through solutions that are clean, local, and ours.
关于我们
Cooperative Energy Futures (CEF) is a member-owned cooperative business focused on advancing energy democracy through community-controlled renewable energy and energy efficiency. CEF develops and operates community solar gardens, currently with 8 projects across Minnesota offsetting the electricity needs of 700 member households at an immediate net savings to our members. CEF has a particular focus on economic and racial justice, working to ensure that all projects are developed using an economic model that is deeply accessible to members regardless of income or credit and including options available at no upfront cost and net monthly savings, as well as prioritizing workforce equity in the solar industry. CEF uses member participation in these projects to build community wealth and activate members from many different communities around a vision for our energy future that is rooted in community-controlled clean energy.

We still have spots available in 3 different gardens, but once these fill up, we won’t have any open gardens for over a year! Don’t miss your chance to save up to 20% on your utility bill. Contact us today at [email protected] or click the link in our bio. Sabathani Community Center #CommunitySolar #CooperativeEnergy #Sustainability #SaveOnEnergy

Yesterday, we stood at the State Capitol with over 200 of our closest friends for the Rise and Repair Rally, fighting for Indigenous rights and climate justice. We listened to each other’s stories, came together as a community, and spoke with legislators about the urgent climate issues impacting their constituents. Now, more than ever, we must give LAND BACK to Indigenous communities. Understanding the past, healing relationships & building our future together. #RiseAndRepair #LandBack #ClimateJustice #climateaction #climatecrisis #IndigenousRights

Last week, Dr Jean Watson from Abbott Northwestern Hospital and I had the opportunity to tour the new community solar garden being installed on the roof of the hospital’s new parking ramp. This new community solar garden was envisioned and funded by Allina Health and will be managed by our partners at Cooperative Energy Futures. The 2,000+ solar panels in this array are expected to generate about 1.3M kWh of electricity every year. This is enough energy to power about 150 homes. Revenue from this power generation will be given to local residents and community members in the form of credits on their monthly utility bills. This project is another example of how Allina Health and Abbott Northwestern Hospital are building both environmental sustainability initiatives and tangible community benefit into the hospital’s campus revitalization project in South Minneapolis.
Huge thank you to the team at Allina for highlighting our community Solar garden atop the Abbott Northwestern parking ramp. We still have spots open in this garden.
