A brain injury can occur to anyone at any time. However, what happens next should not be left to chance. Each year, TBIs account for 30% of all injury-related deaths in the U.S. Survivors often face long-term cognitive and physical challenges, and many struggle to access the care they need. This month, we raise awareness, support survivors, and advocate for policies that ensure no one has to navigate a brain injury alone. Imagine entrusting your infant to a daycare, only to receive a call that changes your life forever. A loving family in Dayton did everything right. They found a licensed provider, followed all the rules, and expected their child to be safe. Instead, their infant son suffered a devastating brain injury—an injury that should never have happened. At Cooper Elliott, we are standing with this family in their fight for answers and accountability. If you or someone you know has faced a similar situation, you’re not alone. We’re here to help. https://bit.ly/4bRAPJn

This morning, Cooper Elliott stood alongside the family of Jo Ann Echelbarger as they took the next step in their fight for justice. Jo Ann’s tragic death was preventable. The very people tasked with protecting the community from dangerous dogs ignored repeated warnings, allowing a known threat to escalate into the unthinkable. Now, her family is demanding accountability. This lawsuit isn’t just about what happened—it’s about making sure it never happens again. Thank you to ABC6 and other media outlets for covering this critical case. We’re proud to represent the family of Baby Theo, an infant who suffered a traumatic brain injury at the hands of a Dayton, Ohio daycare. Cooper Elliott attorney Kimberly Burroughs shared… “At the time he was an 11-week-old baby and his mom dropped him off for daycare…and when she came to visit him at lunchtime he was lethargic and just not the happy little boy that she had dropped off earlier that day.” https://lnkd.in/g9geUKNd

Since 1989, nearly 3,700 people have been exonerated in the U.S. That’s thousands of lives forever changed by wrongful convictions, yet several states still don’t have laws to compensate those unjustly imprisoned. Kentucky may soon change that. A new bill (HB 206) introduced in the General Assembly would create a compensation statute for exonerees. This is more than just financial support; it’s recognition of the years stolen from people who lost education, career opportunities, financial stability, and invaluable time with loved ones. The majority of states have already taken action. It’s time for Kentucky and the remaining holdouts to do the same. Read more about the bill here: https://bit.ly/412KbNA
