Thales is a chosen supplier (industry partner) for COOPANS. COOPANS partners operate a world class, safe and cost-effective ATM system. COOPANS has adopted a common managerial approach, whereby the six ANSPs act as one organisation together with Thales with a focus on common success.

On November 19 the CEOs of the six COOPANS-Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) COOPANS Alliance Board Chair Philipp Piber, Austro Control, Mario Kunovec-Varga, Croatia Control, Dr. Peter Kearney, AirNav Ireland, Ann Persson Grivas, LFV (represented), Anders Rex, Naviair and Pedro ?ngelo, NAV PORTUGAL , came together at Thales Headquarters at Rungis in France to ring in a new era of ATM System modernisation in Europe, paving the way for the implementation of the new TopSky – ATC One system. "The upgrade to the new TopSky – ATC One system is a significant milestone in order to be able to manage increasing air traffic in a safe, efficient and sustainable way in the future. A modern, open, and modular ATM system will ensure flexibility, adaptability, and interoperability, enabling seamless integration of new technological advancements. The commitment and professionalism of all our staff, who worked so hard on the specifications for the system modernisation, played a key role in ensuring that we could continue with this highly successful cooperation", said COOPANS Alliance Board Chairman Philipp Piber. ?? This week, NAV Portugal had the pleasure of hosting the COOPANS Alliance Board meeting in Lisbon! ?? ? COOPANS Alliance is a renowned international partnership between air navigation service providers (ANSP) from Austria (Austro Control), Croatia (Croatia Control), Denmark (Naviair), Ireland (AirNav Ireland), Portugal (NAV PORTUGAL), and Sweden (LFV), with Thales as the selected industry partner. ? Over two days, the CEOs and representatives of all COOPANS member ANSPs, together with Thales, engaged in strategic discussions on various key topics, such as governance, regulatory compliance, the status of major projects like TopSky ATC One and EXODUS, implementation activities, and financial updates. The meeting allowed us to explore how we can further strengthen our collaboration, address common challenges, and continue to deliver innovative solutions for air traffic management. ? A big thank you to all the attendees, especially our COOPANS colleagues and Thales representatives, for the fruitful discussions and the ongoing partnership. Very intensive and insightful session at Thales SkyCentre in Rungis, laying the foundations for our SESAR3 ATC-TBO validation exercises planned for mid-2025. The scope is broad: automated conflict resolution proposals (CD&R), integration of Adverse Weather Areas (in HMI and CD&R tool), horizontal/vertical EPP discrepancy monitoring, simple and complex CPDLC clearances automatically prepared and proposed to the ATCOs, increased Planner Controller role...
