They explored the causes of post-harvest loss, mastered smart crop pairings for better storage, and mapped out action plans to share this knowledge with their communities. Had a wonderful time representing CoolVeg at the GOGLA conference #GOGSFE24 in Nairobi! “Together, the J-WAFS Solutions program and MIT’s I&E ecosystem demonstrate how academic research can evolve into business innovations that make a better world,” says J-WAFS Director Professor John Lienhard. MIT's labs, classrooms, and centers are a hub for innovative solutions to pressing global challenges. These innovations often transition to the commercial realm through MIT's innovation and entrepreneurship (I&E) ecosystem, which includes programs like the National Science Foundation (NSF)’s NE I-Corps, MIT Venture Mentoring Service, and MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition. J-WAFS utilizes this ecosystem to help researchers commercialize technologies in water, food, and agriculture through its Solutions grant program. Since 2015, the program has funded projects aimed at enhancing water and food systems, driving economic, environmental, and social benefits. As J-WAFS approaches its 10th anniversary, it continues to promote collaborations that translate academic research into real-world results. Feed the Future ???????? ???????????? financé par l'USAID a récemment commandité, une étude de base menée auprès des groupements maraichers de Djenné et Bandiagara (évaluation préliminaire). Cette étude a révélé un besoin réel de formation aux technologies innovantes de refroidissement, stockage et conservation appropriées des fruits et légumes dans les zones d’intervention du projet afin de faciliter les activités commerciales des acteurs du maraichage. C’est dans ce cadre, que Feed the Future ???????? ???????????? en partenariat avec l'???????????????? ??'???????????????? ???????????? (??????) et ??????????????, a organisé du ???? au ???? septembre 2024 à Djenné, une une formation pilote des groupements maraichers sur les technologies innovantes de refroidissement, stockage et conservation appropriées des fruits ?? et légumes ?? grace aux canaris refroidisseurs "Clay Pot Cooler"??. La formation ?? a concerné ???? maraichers (dont près de ???? ????????????) venus représenter ?????? organisations locales de Djenné. Les representant.e.s de la DRPFEF, du CSREF, de l’Union Locale des Acteurs du Marché (ULAM) et de l’association des potières de Djenné _ y ont pris part et ont salué cette initiative salutaire qui contribuera assurément à aider davantage, les organisations locales ??. á l’issue des 2 formations, ce ne sont pas moins de ???????? ???????????????????? ?????????????? qui seront touchés par cette initiative. Pour la pérenniser, des brochures sont en confection afin de dupliquer cette technique innovante auprès du plus grand nombre.
